Empties #14

Usually this type of posts contain a lot of products but like I’ve mentioned before, I’m trying to do them more often and with less products now, so that they don’t get too long and boring. Here it is everything I’ve used up recently.

Skincare Products

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water – One of my favourite micellar waters. I like taking my makeup off with such products before cleansing my skin and this one is very gentle yet effective, a cult classic that doesn’t need too many words;
Bioderma Sensibio Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel – This is the cleanser from the same range and I love it, I already have a second bottle of it because it doesn’t really foam, it feels very soothing on the skin and leaves it soft and clean;
Balea Active Charcoal Sheet Mask – A fantastic budget sheet mask that contains Salicylic Acid and Zinc which is great if you have blemish-prone and oily skin. I use it when I feel that I need it or once a week because of my combination skin;
Sephora Algae Face Mask – This is the purifying sheet mask from Sephora and I have to say, I enjoy using almost all of their sheet masks. This one makes my skin look a bit brighter but definitely not matte. I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite one and I’m not sure if I’d repurchase but I don’t think it’s a bad sheet mask;
La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray – Thermal sprays, floral mists and toners are must-haves for me all year round but especially in the summer. I love the cooling and soothing effect of this thermal water, it makes my skin soft and radiant without looking shiny;
La Roche-Posay Serozinc
– This Zinc Sulfate solution for oily, blemish-prone skin is a huge love of mine and sadly, not available anywhere around me. I’m really sad I’ve used up another bottle of this miracle worker and I hope it will be soon easier to find;
La Roche-Posay Tolerian Ultra Fluide – A soothing lightweight cream for face and eyes that calms my skin and leaves it moisturised without making it more oily;
Balea Eye Cream with Lotus – This is probably my 5th tube of my favourite drugstore eye cream. I love the texture, it’s so light yet hydrating, the formula is fragrance-free and contains  Vitamin E, Panthenol, Almond, Jojoba, Aloe and Lotus Oils and Caffeine and Vitamin C;
KICKS Age Defence Turn Back Time Sun Protection SPF 30 – This sunscreen has a lovely apple scent and doesn’t break me out which is one of the most important things for me when it comes to SPF. It can look a bit more shiny on my combination skin but I much prefer this cream to many of the popular ones that tend to leave white cast or look too greasy or too chalky;

Makeup Products

Essence Stay Natural Concealer – One of those concealers in a pen form that has a brush on the end. I’m not sure exactly why but I really love this type of concealers. They’re somehow easy to use and as if the formula is always lightweight but with very good coverage and brightening effect;
Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil – My favourite eyebrow pencil! It’s precise, the shade is great for me, it’s not too dry or too creamy, it’s just perfect;
Essence Make Me Brow Gel – I have 5-6 of these in my beauty stash because the darker shade always seems to be out of stock and I think it’s a really nice setting gel for brows. It doesn’t make my brow hairs too crispy, it leaves them natural-looking and the tiny wand doesn’t pick up too much product;
Catrice All Matt Powder – There’s still a little bit left in the pan but it’s getting harder and harder to use the product. This is a finely-milled powder that mattifies my skin but also gives it a bit of a glow, I feel like it’s impossible to overdo it and now I really want to try more of the brand’s powders;
Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother – This has been staying at the bottom of one of my bags for ages and I just wanted to say a few words about it because I got it thinking it might be similar to the Instant Light Lip Perfectors from Clarins. I don’t want to say it’s a horrible product but first of all, I don’t like the scent, it’s a sweet one but as if the product has expired and then it does make my lips look smooth and shiny without being too glossy but on the next day, they’re pretty dry. I used to keep it in my handbag trying to make myself use it during the day but it’s just not my favourite lip product;

Body Products

Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream – Incredibly moisturising and soothing hand cream enriched with Shea Butter and Lanolin. The scent is similar to This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray;
Himalaya Herbals Baby Lotion – The best thing about this lotion is that it absorbs almost instantly without leaving any residue which makes it perfect for summer. The formula contains Almond Oil and Olive Oil and I really liked using it;
The Body Shop Mango Body Mist – Body mists are great in the summer, they don’t last that long on the skin but feel refreshing and smell sweet. Unfortunately, the top of this one broke, so it’s been really hard to use it up but the scent is very nice and not too overpowering.

Hope you’re having a great start to the new month!

20170304_120507postWe’re already in March and this is actually my first post with empty products for 2017. There are some huge favourites of mine that I’ve used up and now I’m really missing them.

20170304_121201post

Skincare and Makeup Products

KICKS Clearing Mud Mask – That’s a second tube of this mask after the first one was sent to me to try. It has Salycilic Acid in it, it’s purifying, washes off easily and the price is good, as well;
Kaufmanns Haut-und-Kinder-Creme  – Another tube of one of my favourite multipurpose moisturisers. It’s now a staple for me, it saves my lips and knuckles in the winter;
Superdrug Clearly Youthful Resurfacing Night Serum – Unfortunately, this comes in a really small size and I didn’t pick up another bottle of it from the UK. A fantastic budget serum with Lactic Acid  that makes my skin look brighter and clearer;
Balea Vital Intensive SerumBalea seem to know how to do good budget serums, too. They always have pumps and feel incredibly nourishing and soothing;
Clinique Superdefense Night Recovery Moisturiser – That’s my second jar of this night cream and it’s one of my favourite ones, I’ve spoken a lot about it but here’s the full review in case you want to know more;
REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist – I believe this is my second bottle of this mist, as well. I love facial mists and I adore this one. I have detailed information about it here, I love using it before makeup, on top of makeup, on days when I don’t wear makeup, it’s refreshing, hydrating and protecting;
Shiseido Ibuki Softening Concentrate – This mini was great for travelling, the purchase was inspired by mum who loves it and uses it as a serum or just as an additional step to add a bit more moisture and care to the skin;
Tromborg Multivitamin Facial Mask – This was just a sample but it was enough for me to know the mask is amazing. It feels light on the skin, it’s a gel and at first you think it doesn’t do much but when you wash it off, you’re left with a lovely glow, the pores look diminished and the complexion in general is fresher and healthier;
Sephora Pomegranate Sleeping Mask – I love these masks, they seem small but I can use them up to 6-7 times. I don’t like them for travelling, though because you can’t store them and keep them fresh. This mask makes my skin tone a bit more even and fresh-looking;
Sephora Ginseng Eye Mask – The eye masks are lovely, as well, refreshing and soothing;
Rodial Dragon’s Blood Eye Masks – These ones contain a lot of serum in the bags which I tend to pour into travel pots and use it under my regular eye cream. The patches feel cooling and hydrating and I love them, wish they were more affordable;
Purederm Collagen Eye Zone Mask – Eye masks enriched with Collagen, Vitamin E and Green Tea Extract that brighten the area under my eyes. The serum absorbs really quickly after removing the patches, it feels refreshing and I’ll be repurchasing these;
Purederm Collagen Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes – It’s quite interesting how I really dislike facial wet wipes and use them only when I travel, yet I have at least a pack of empty ones in every post like this one. The collagen ones must be my least favourite of all Purederm I’ve tried, they just seem to not remove makeup that well and feel a bit more harsh on the skin. I’d stick to the tea tree ones;
L’Occitane x Pierre Hermé Paris Pamplemousse Rhubarbe  Lip Balm – You may already know I have a soft spot for L’Occitane limited edition lip balms. This one was a memory of our trip to Munich around Christmas holidays and this is one more reason to love it;
Avène Cicalfate Repair Cream – I have a full review on this product here. It can be used on face and body and helped me against the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation I tend to get quite often;
Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover – A travel mini of a cult classic, you can’t go wrong with this one;
L’Oréal Skin Perfection Perk-up Cream and Eye Care – That’s a great duo if you want a tinted moisturiser for your face and under the eyes because they even out the skin tone but also have skincare benefits. It looks lovely once applied on the skin and it was actually mum who got me into these;
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I have mixed feelings towards this mascara maybe because I had really high hopes considering how many people compare it to Benefit’s Roller Lash. I quite like how fluttery it makes my eyelashes look…when it’s near the time to throw it in the bin. The rest of the time, the formula is just too wet, it doesn’t give me the separation, volume and curl that Roller Lash provides and I’m not so sure if I love it;
La Roche-Posay Respectissime Volume Mascara – On the other hand, this is a brilliant mascara that I want to find a full size of. It gives a similar to the YSL Effet Faux Cills look and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes;
Essence Mini Lipgloss – These are some of the loveliest affordable glosses and the mini was given to me by a dear friend, I love the colour and it was nice having it in my hand luggage during my travels;
Dior DIORSKIN Forever Perfect Skin-Perfecting Foundation SPF 35 – The best foundation for my skin type, I’m actually quite sad that I’ve used it up because I don’t seem to have a backup. You can read my full review on it here;
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer – Not sure how many times I’ve spoken about it and how many tubes I’ve used up but you can find my thoughts on it here;
Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector SPF 20 – I use it on its own or as a primer and I like how it evens out the skin tone and makes everything look smoother and natural.

Body and Hair Products

Lumene Cloudberry Hand Cream – The same dear friend of mine gave it to me and I couldn’t thank her enough! This is such a hydrating hand cream and at the same time doesn’t feel greasy on the hands. The scent is subtle, so it can be used by men, too;
Neal’s Yard Remedies Bee Lovely Hand Cream – All the hand creams I use up are ones I love and this has a great orange scent combined with wonderful moisturising properties;
The Body Shop Frosted Plum Hand Cream – Reminds me of cosy winter days that were not so long ago, actually. The scent is not too overpowering and the cream is very nice itself but I wish it wasn’t limited edition;
Yves Rocher Pear & Cocoa Hand Cream – I really like the brand’s hand creams and when a Christmas scent is added, I’m in love. Now that I’m smelling it again, I wish I took more of it during the holidays;
Yves Rocher Pear & Cocoa Bath & Shower Gel – The corresponding body wash was amazing, as well. I love that scent wasn’t too overpowering or sweet but still remained different and special;
Yves Rocher Almond Orange Blossom Relaxing Shower Oil – I never knew the brand had shower oils! I really enjoyed this one, it feels gentle on the skin, it’s not really foamy, it has a slightly herbal scent which I personally like and I really want to try more;
L’Oréal Arginine Resist Double Elixir Express Conditioner – I always use leave-in conditioners, I just love them and these spray ones are quite easy to use. Plus, in the winter my hair tends to get a bit more flyaways and knots than usual and this product did a pretty good job at helping me with that;
L’Oréal Elseve Nutri-Gloss Shampoo – When it comes to shampoos, I go through so many so quickly that I don’t even look in details what’s in stores at the moment. That’s why I tend to go for the ones I know like this one here that makes my hair really shiny and clean;
La Roche-Posay Lipikar Fluide – It has a light texture that feels soothing and nourishing, the pump is really handy and I’d purchase it again;
L’Occitane Foot Cream – This mini came in the brand’s advent calendar and it helped me a lot during the freezing winter nights because I woke up to the softest feet on the next morning. I might need a full size of it;
L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Shimmering Lotion – The range is probably my favourite of all L’Occitane ones but this lotion is too shimmery for my taste, so it was nice trying it but I would stick to the cherry blossom body wash, hand cream and the fragrance;
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray – I’m not sure if it really helps you sleep better but the scent is definitely relaxing and calming.

This is everything I’ve used up lately, now I’m off to make a list with what I need to repurchase.

Evening Skincare Routine | Summer 2016

DSC_0300post

On Wednesday I showed you my simple summer morning skincare routine and it’s only logical the evening one to follow.

I decided to feature a few more products that I use several times a week and not every day but they are still part of my skincare rituals and that’s why they’re here.

The first step is always taking my make-up off and I usually use micellar water to do this. The Ziaja Sensitive Skin Micellar Water is very gentle, feels delicate on the skin but takes off make-up really well. After this, I usually continue with an oil cleanser but I’ve been using the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam* for the past month or so because it’s something between a cream and oil cleanser and I really like it. It’s very calming and leaves my skin clean, soft and hydrated. I’ve done a full review on this product, so you can take a look at it here. To tone my skin and to remove any last traces of impurities, I use Clarins Alcohol-Free Toning Lotion with Iris, it’s good even around the eyes, doesn’t strip my skin and feels refreshing.

At the moment, I’m using a drugstore serum and it’s the Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum which is a brilliant basic one for dehydrated and sensitive skin. It feels comforting, it makes my skin glowy and fresh-looking. I’ve been using it for just about a month and I’m waiting once it’s been at least 3 months to do a proper review on it but so far, I think it’s a great find.

Then I apply my eye cream and it’s still the same as the one in my morning skincare routine, I just love the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream*. Day or night, it’s the one to give me hydration, brightness and care in a fragrance-free formula.

I love applying facial oils and I simply adore them on slightly damp skin, that’s why I use the thermal spray from Maya Water Facial Mist with Organic Acai* and then apply the Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil. It spreads evenly, nourishes the skin and gives a wonderful glow.

For an extra drop of hydration, I finish off with Clinique Superdefense Night Recovery Moisturiser*. It’s radiance in a jar, containing Vitamin C and Vitamin E to maintain healthy and radiant skin, Ergothioneine which is an antioxidant amino acid that helps protect the skin from pollution and Rosemary Leaf Extract for strengthening the skin’s barrier from environmental aggressors, while stimulating natural collagen production. You can read my review on it here.

Before bed, I like to apply the Kaufmanns multi-purpose cream in a tube on my lips. I’ve talked about this one a lot, it’s just amazing for dry lips, it heals them with a couple of applications, it’s affordable and I always stock up on it when I’m in Germany.

Additional care
There are two exfoliating products I’ve been using the most in the past few months. Facial scrubs aren’t something that I reach for often but I’m really enjoying the Dior Instant Gentle Exfoliant with Pure Lily Extract because it’s gentle and creamy, it doesn’t dry out my skin and makes it look luminous. In case you’d like to read more about this product, I’ve done a full review on it here. I use it a couple of times a week, just like the Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Peel from Superdrug (I always use them on different days). This tiny tube contains a clear gel that feels a bit sticky when you apply it but the feeling disappears quickly. I use it at night and then wash it off the next morning. My skin gets really soft and radiant with it which is a bit of a surprise as I got this product on a whim. I don’t think my face gets along with Glycolic Acid that well, I’ve had pretty bad experience with some skincare products containing the ingredient but this affordable peel really does a great job.

I have combination skin, so a blemish or two will appear from time to time. In this case, I use a few drops of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil on a cotton bud and apply it directly onto the affected area after cleansing. This product is lovely, doesn’t dry out my skin and works really well but I have to say, pure Tea Tree Oil works just as good and it’s often cheaper.
At night I use the Dermalogica Clear Start Overnight Treatment on dry and cleansed skin and on the next day the redness and the size of the blemishes are reduced, my skin definitely looks a bit better without being dry.

Several times a week, I like to use face masks, purifying and nourishing, both types are in my routine and you can see my current face mask choices here.

This is my evening skincare routine this summer, of course, I add new products once in a while, so I hope this post was helpful and perhaps in future, there would be an updated one.

Three Hand Creams to Try This Winter

DSC_0395post DSC_0396post DSC_0399postHand creams are an essential for me in the colder months and I’m sure we can all agree that we’d like to have nourished hands without the sticky feel that many hand creams have.
That’s why I decided to show you my favourite handbag-friendly hand creams this winter. They are moisturising, non-greasy and heavenly-scented.

It’s no secret that L’Occitane create some of my favourite hand moisturisers, the formula is gorgeous, the scents are like no others and they feel incredibly comfortable on the skin. I guess that’s the reason why I’m currently using two of their gems.

Arlésienne Velvet Hand Cream is made of extracts of Rose from Grasse, Sweet Violet and Saffron from Provence and has a subtle floral fragrance that lingers wherever you go. It’s beautiful and mysterious, delicate but surprising.

Jasmin-Immortelle-Neroli is part of their recent Pierre Hermé Paris collaboration and reveals a soft scent of white flowers bouquet. It contains Shea Butter, Jasmine Flower Absolute, Neroli Essence, Corsican Immortelle Essential Oil. Another floral and feminine scent with sensual musky notes, soft, sunny, elegant and a bit sweet.
I know that I’m not describing a perfume but if you try any L’Occitane hand cream, you’ll know what special part the scent is having here.

Another non-greasy and lightweight hand cream that I fell in love with in the past couple of months is The Body Shop Frosted Plum Hand Cream. It has a fruity-floral scent with notes of Plum, Peony and Magnolia. Contains Plum Extract from Turkey and Community Fair Trade Soya Oil.
I like picking up my hand creams around Christmas time, so that they can remind me of the holidays whenever I’m using them and this one brings me back to Munich and the Christmas markets…good times.

I’m in love with these hand creams because they don’t leave a sticky residue, they keep my hands feeling incredibly soft throughout the day, they all have gorgeous scents that are not too overpowering, they are lightweight and get absorbed instantly.

Hope you like these treats in a tube, they are a wonderful gift to yourself or a lady you appreciate for soft hands with divine fragrance!

December Favourites

DSC_0429postDSC_0430postDSC_0435postp2lipstick
Hope you’ve had an amazing Christmas with your loved ones and now you’re ready for last month’s of 2015 favourites!

I did quite a bit of travelling in December and my skin always suffers when I’m away. So, I had to be sure that I have skincare helpers in my beauty bag.
The combination of two products really made the difference and these two products are Maya Water Facial Mist with Organic Acai* and Biotherm Aquasource Cocoon*.
I love facial mists and this is the first facial mist with Norwegian thermal spa water that I’ve tried. It gives an instant boost of hydration and when you apply an oil and/or moisturiser on top, it just locks the moisture. This mini size bottle contains Vitamin A, C and E, Zinc, Iron and the fatty acids Omega 3, 6 and 9 which really provide amazing care for the skin in the winter.
At first, I wasn’t sure if the moisturiser would be good for my combination skin as it’s more appropriate for dry skin. However, the unique balm-in-gel formula is really hydrating without making my face oily. It can be used day and night but I think it’s a great make-up base, as it really smooths out the skin and the foundation applies very well after that.

To keep my hands soft, I’ve been relying on the new Frosted Plum Hand Cream from The Body Shop. My hands tend to bleed in the cold months and this is a very lightweight but really nourishing cream that doesn’t leave a sticky residue and smells gorgeous!

I also have a couple of make-up favourites. Like this affordable but extremely good eye pencil from Essence. The shade is 06 Cocoa Bean and it’s really pigmented while the dark brown looks quite flattering and not so harsh as black, for example. The formula is waterproof and you have some seconds to smudge the liner if you want, after that it sets and doesn’t move during the whole day. Plus, the pencil doesn’t require sharpening because it’s a retractable one.

My favourite lipstick has been one I picked up in Munich at the beginning of the month. It’s from p2 and and their Full Shine Lipstick range. The shade is 080 Tell me a Tale which is a wearable vintage pink one that looks simply gorgeous, the formula is creamy and feels pretty luxurious on the lips. Pity that it’s not available outside Germany.

What have you been loving in the last month of the year?
