February Favourites

IMG_2366post IMG_2372post IMG_2374post IMG_2375post

The shortest month of the year is over and at the beginning of March we’re having hopes for a warmer weather, lovely sunshine and a blooming spring…which in Norway isn’t likely to happen but let’s not be so pessimistic because it’s time for February favourites!

I added the Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus Revitalising Sorbet to my 2014 favourites, I reviewed it back in September here and I thought I’d stop talking about it but I just can’t. I love this body lotion so much and I’m happy that now I can purchase it online. I’m curious about the other scents as well and it’s just a divine smelling product that absorbs quickly and leaves your skin hydrated.

Another body product that I’ve been loving is the Naturelle Shower & Oil Almond Care with 100% pure almond oil. For me, this is a dupe for my beloved L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. It’s by a Norwegian brand and it can be found even in supermarkets although it’s a little bit more expensive than a drugstore body wash. It feels amazing on the skin, it has a consistency of a runny honey, smells luxurious and the reason why I think it’s a dupe for the L’Occitane shower oil is that it leaves your skin nourished and you don’t even need a body lotion after that.

It’s been about 3 weeks since I started using the Benefit Roller Lash mascara that I reviewed earlier this week here and it had to be included in this post. The formula is really nice to work with even when the mascara is new, it lengthens the eyelashes and gives them a pretty curl that stays in place all day. You don’t even need eyelash curlers but if you decide to use a curler and apply the mascara after this, you’ll probably have the prettiest eyelashes in the world.

I’ve talked a lot about the Eucerin DermoPURIFYER range and especially their day and night moisturisers but here I’m showing you the Active Concentrate from the line. It’s a really lightweight serum with lactic acid that helps balancing my combination skin and improves my skin condition in general.

I’m preparing a review on the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment because I’ve been using this face mask for a couple of months and I’m really enjoying it. I think it’s more suitable for people with oily or combination skin although it doesn’t dry out mine too much. My skin feels and looks better after I wash the product off, it’s soft and the pores look smaller.

Have you tried any of these products?

2014 Favourites

IMG_1478post IMG_1481post

It’s the last day of the year and what better time for writing a post about my favourite products in 2014? I could actually include even more but there are plenty already, so I had to stop myself. Many of the mentioned products were released in previous years but it’s simply what I’ve been loving during this one. I thought it would be better if I form several categories.

Lip products

I’ve been using the Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils for just about a month but they had to make it to my annual favourites because the formula is great, the shades are lovely, they fit perfectly to the lip pencils trend at the moment and they are affordable (review here).
One of the autumn launches by Chanel was their Rouge Coco Shine in Confident – a stunning dusty rose shade with creamy texture (review here).
Even though I’m a not a huge lip gloss fan, there is one that everybody including me seems to love and it’s Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 06 Rosewood Shimmer (review here) because it gives you a slight colour, it’s moisturising and it’s not sticky like most of the lip glosses.
Lip balms have a special place in my heart and Burt’s Bees know how to soothe and hydrate lips. Their Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter was my favourite in 2014 without a doubt.

Nail products

There are two nail polishes that I’ve been loving in 2014 – a nude and a vibrant purple one. The first is Essie Sand Tropez (review here) and the second is KIKO Nail Lacquer in 314 Cyclamen.
When it comes to treatment, the big surprise was OPI Nail Envy for Dry & Brittle Nails! I didn’t believe that it could be so amazing but this product made my nails healthier, stronger and there is no sign of the yellow coloured nails after using nail varnishes anymore. Highly recommend (review here).

Skincare products

I’m including the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water here because it’s my first step in my evening skincare routine, it removes eye makeup effectively, it’s gentle and affordable.
If I had to choose only one favourite for this year, it would have been without a doubt the Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil (review here) because this is the product that balances my combination skin, it has been the reason why my skin never looked better than in 2014 and I can’t say enough good words about it.
Still, at that time of the month, some spots may appear and there are two more products that save the day – a face mask and a spot treatment. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask (review here) and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] are these products.

Hair and body products

The fragrance that I’ve been mostly using in 2014 is actually a purchase from the previous year but it’s a special one for me. Not only it is feminine and elegant with just a hint of sweetness to it but it always reminds me of a magical trip to London. That’s why I love Lancome‘s La Vie est Belle so much.
To protect my hands I relied on Burt’s Bees Hand Salve, it’s a wonderful product.
This body sorbet by Roger & Gallet (review here) has amazing scent, great hydrating qualities and has been my favourite body moisturiser in 2014.
When it comes to hair Björn Axén and their Strengthening Shampoo did a great job. It makes my hair soft and shiny, smells of apricots and although it’s for fine hair and mine is not, it didn’t make it look and feel bad. More on this shampoo here.

Makeup products

It’s interesting how the majority of my favourite makeup products are actually by Bourjois but I have to admit that they’ve had a pretty good year.
However, I’d like to start with the first makeup product that I apply and it actually has skincare qualities as well. It’s the L’Occitane Ultra Matte Fluid and it will keep you shine-free all day long if you have oily or combination skin. That’s the best primer or under primer product, it’s quite pricey and expires 6 months after opening the bottle but so far, I haven’t found anything that works better on my skin.
Next up is the duo Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream and 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream. They are light, you don’t feel them on the skin, look natural but at the same time have pretty good coverage. Review here.
Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder (review here) has a bit of coverage as well, doesn’t look like powder but keeps your face shine-free and healthy-looking.
The mascara is again by Bourjois partly because it’s a really good mascara, partly because I didn’t try so many different ones in 2014, I was sticking to just several mascaras and just kept repurchasing them during the year. Volume 1 Seconde Mascara does it all although I prefer to separate my lashes with another mascara before applying this one.

These are the products that I’ve been mostly using in 2014, I tried to combine some pricey and more affordable ones, so that everybody can find something for themselves and I hope you liked this post.
I sincerely wish you a great party night and a wonderful new year, may it be a happy one!

What’s On My Bedside Table

IMG_1040postIMG_1047postIMG_1045post

I try to keep the situation on my bedside table pretty simple. You can see just a couple of products that I use before going to bed because I do my evening skincare routine much earlier.

The most important thing for me is to apply lip balm because night is the time when we don’t drink and eat and it can stay on my lips for at least 6 hours. It’s the best time to nourish my lips and usually I keep a thick lip treatment near me. Origins Lip Remedy contains menthol and camphor which means it feels cooling on the lips. It’s really soothing and although the scent can be pretty strong and the consistency reminds me of a body lotion, I really like this product as an overnight treatment.

Next up is the foot cream and we all feel ashamed to talk about feet. I have to admit that I’m a little bit lazy with my feet mainly because I don’t like the sticky feeling of a lotion or a cream on this part of my body. Luckily, Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream absorbs quickly, smells amazing and nourishes my feet during the night.

I always keep a body lotion on my bedside table in case I’ve missed this step after taking a shower. I just love Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus Revitalising Sorbet because it has a divine scent, it’s lightweight but moisturising at the same time and you can read my review on it here.

Soap & Glory’s Hand Food is one of my favourite hand creams and I can never get bored of the smell. Lovely product along with their hand scrubs. I usually ”wash” my hands with the scrub before going to bed and then apply a thick layer of the hand cream.

The tiny travel bottle with no name, no colour, no nothing is actually a mixture of oils. I have sleeping problems and this little guy helps me feel calmer and sleep better. And although there are many oils inside, it actually smells of mandarins, it’s very fresh and nice.

Usually reading is part of my night routine, I like to read before falling asleep and using my Kindle is the most comfortable way to do it. I was a little bit negative at the beginning but I can give you so many reasons to try such device now. We all love the smell of paper books but we can save many trees by using this or similar little thing, you can carry it everywhere with you and you can load hundreds of books…

What’s your bedside stash?
