October Favourites

Not sure how in the last couple of years, the festive season begins in October but I feel like it’s almost December judging by the decorations everywhere. Luckily, we still have a lot of time to get ready for the holidays, so that we can simply enjoy autumn.

Although my skin isn’t happy about fall weather, at all, I’ve been trying to switch up a few products in my routine and hopefully soon there will be results. I’ve mentioned multiple times how much I love La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] but I just realised I’ve never done a full review on it. In the past few weeks, I discovered the new La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Unifiant in the shade Light which is basically the same product but a tinted version of it. I have to say I love it because it has the same properties as my beloved Duo [+] but has a slight coverage that evens out the complexion. Also, most products from this type look quite orange or pink on me but this one is a pretty good match. I’ll be preparing a full review on this new product very soon.

Another skin saviour for me has been the REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist* (review here). It just keeps my skin radiant-looking, hydrated and it’s also great before applying my evening facial oil. I love how I can spritz it whenever I want throughout the day, even on top of my make-up.

I can’t believe I never included the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Lips in Nude*  in a monthly favourites. Perhaps, it’s because I’ve been using it all the time and just consider it as one of my daily staples without paying much attention. I mix together a few shades for a custom lip look or just apply one of the middle ones on its own, the colours are flattering on many skin tones and I’m in love with this palette. You can read more about this and the red lip palette here.

Another lipstick favourite of mine has been the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipstick in the shade 02 Perfect Match and it shouldn’t be a secret by now that I love the brand’s lipsticks. It just doesn’t matter what kind of finish they have, they are always comfortable on the lips, there’s a really good variety of shades and they are super affordable. This particular lipstick has a gorgeous autumn colour, lasts for about 4 hours on me and doesn’t dry out my lips.

The two nail polishes I’ve been using the most (if not only) in October have been the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes in the shades 116 Café de Nuit and 224 Rose Ballet. If you want an opaque and shiny colour that goes on smoothly, look no further. These also have the same scent as the brand’s lipsticks and it lingers on for about a day on the nails. You can see how the nail polishes look on my nails here.

These are some of my favourite products this autumn season and it seems I’m still into my mauve shades rather than reaching for berry tones but it’s just how I feel at the moment. What have you been loving in the month of October?

Nail Polish Picks | Summer 2016

Usually, during the warmer months, I tend to use brighter and brighter nail shades, however, this year it seems I’m reaching for nudes and neutrals most of the time. Of course, everyone has their own taste and preferences but these are the nail polishes I can’t stop wearing at the moment.

I’ve shared my love for the Bourjois La Laque Nail Enamel range here, I used the shade 1 White Spirit a lot last summer and it’s now back on my nails. I love how clean and elegant it looks, the design of the bottle is quite unique, the formula is incredibly pigmented and the finish is beautiful and glossy.

Whenever I go to Germany, I always spend a lot of time in front of the trend IT UP counter and especially, browsing through their nail polish section. They have so many finishes and colours that it’s a bit overwhelming. My favourite range is without a doubt the Double Volume & Shine one and the shade 110 looked quite different in the bottle when I saw it in stores. When I applied the varnish at home for the first time in the winter, I wasn’t a big fan but now I think it’s quite a nice shade for the warmer weather. It looks a bit more beige in the bottle but on nails, it’s much more peachy and warm. Like all the nail polishes from the range, this one is also very glossy and smooth, the colour is opaque and although I use two coats, it looks great with one, as well.

Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint varnishes are just amazing, I have most of the shades, you can see more here but at the moment I’m in love with Tiki Hut. At first, I didn’t think it looked good on my nails because it’s a pretty dark brown, almost like a coffee brown but it’s going to be quite nice if you have a bit of a tan going on. I love how fast these nail polishes dry, they don’t need a base coat and they look super shiny.

Out of all, the most summery shade has to be Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer in 82 A Gallon of Melon. It’s a fresh peachy-pink shade, the finish is quite creamy and I absolutely love the colour. I’ve had some disappointments with Catrice nail varnishes but I have to say, no complaints here. The formula is smooth and doesn’t go streaky, it does require a couple of layers for an opaque look but it wears pretty well. I adore the shade because it’s not too pink or too bright, it’s just the perfect fresh and summer hue.

Topshop Nails in Sweet & Elite is a pretty pastel purple with a bit of a pearlescent finish, it dries really quickly, it goes on smoothly and streak-free. The only downside is that it doesn’t last very long on my nails but there aren’t many nail polishes that actually do.

These are my nails polish shades of choice for the past (and probably the next) few weeks, what are your favourite summer nail varnishes?

Favourite Nail Polishes | Winter 2016

In the past couple of months, I’ve been reaching out for always the same nail shades and I decided to share them with you.

As you can see, I like to wear berry and burgundy nail polishes in the autumn and winter but I’m a nude nail lover, so Essie‘s Urban Jungle is the neutral shade here. It’s light grey with beige undertones and looks less sharp than a completely white nail varnish but still sophisticated and pretty.

The more purple shades are actually my most worn ones in the past few weeks. WYCON Nail Lacquer in N. 222 has its own review here simply because I’m in love with this lavender colour, the consistency and the shiny finish of it. A deeper mauve creme that goes opaque even with one coat is the p2 Volume Gloss Gel Look Polish in 021 Young Miss.

Maybelline SuperStay 7 Day Gel Nail Colour in the shade Berry Stain (review here) and Golden Rose WOW! Nail Colour in 62  are really similar berry colours but the Maybelline one is a bit brighter and more vibrant, while the Golden Rose one is kind of creamier and deeper purple.

Golden Rose WOW! Nail Colour in 66 is a beautiful burgundy shade that has the amazing formula of all the nail polishes from this range, I’m in love with these minis.

And last but not least, Essie and Damsel in a Dress (review here). This will always be one of my favourite winter shades, beautiful aubergine colour with a tiny bit of warm purple shimmer. It looks absolutely stunning!

What are your favourite winter nail polish shades?

Lavender Nails

Happy New Year! Hope you’ve enjoyed welcoming 2016, may it be a happy and healthy one!

For my first post this year, I decided to show you a nail polish that I got in the summer while I was in Italy. The reason is simple, I had such an amazing time there, I really wish it could be June 2015 again and don’t see a better way to start the year than with such a positive and happy memory for me.

I was really curious about the brand WYCON, their stores were so full of excited girls swatching this and that but unfortunately, I didn’t do a proper product research before I travelled to Rome. I’d love to try much more from them now but I wasn’t really prepared back then.

However, I spent really long time staring at their nail polishes, they had so many different finishes and the shade range was incredible. I didn’t know what to pick! I believe I got 3 or 4 bottles but because it was summer, most of them were coral or pink colours. I really loved their purple shades and wasn’t sure which one to get but WYCON Nail Lacquer in N. 222 was the first one that grabbed my attention. This pretty and delicate dusty lavender shade seemed nothing like any of my nail polishes.

It has a bit more runny consistency than most of my varnishes, so the first coat may go a bit streaky but it gets thicker with the time. The brush is pretty small and I wasn’t sure if it would be good but personally for me, it’s very comfortable to work with. I need two coats for an opaque look, the nail polish has glossy finish and lasts pretty well on my nails, as it just wears off at the top.

I can say that I haven’t used another nail varnish in the last couple of weeks, I’m so in love with this one! I adore the shade and looking at it, brings back so many amazing memories…

Have you tried anything from WYCON Cosmetics and do you have a favourite product from them?

trend IT UP Double Volume & Shine

DSC_0100postI’ve been wanting to get my hands on the new trend IT UP products since they launched at DM Germany in September, I believe. It seems they have amazing make-up products but the most hyped up items are the nail polishes from the Double Volume & Shine line.

It feels like every German girl has been posting Instagram photos of her favourite nail polish shades from the brand and I was really curious to try them out. During one of his trips, my boyfriend decided to get a few of the shades for me, how nice of him!

I immediately fell in love with the one I’m showing you today. They don’t have names, just numbers and this one is 090 which is a deep dusty rose colour, a bit darker than the one I showed you in my Summer to Fall Nail Transition post. It’s amazing for every day wear, it’s elegant but also cute. Interesting fact is that it looks much lighter in the bottle than it actually is, the real colour looks a lot better, so have that in mind.

The nail polish is affordable and comes in 11 ml, it has a wide brush that is really comfortable to work with. The formula is not runny and not too thick, it goes on smoothly without any bubbles or streaks and has a great glossy finish. I apply two coats but it goes opaque even with one which is quite impressive. The lasting power for me is always the same, 2-3 days but that’s just how all nail polishes perform on my nails.

I’ve been wearing this shade a lot since I got it and I’m curious to try some more colours from the range. I just wish it was easier to find these nail polishes and maybe they can actually give them names rather than just having numbers.

Have you tried any trend IT UP products and do you have favourite ones?
