On a Rainy Sunday…

photo-23-09-2016-13-10-10postIt’s a rainy Sunday morning, looks quite gloomy outside but just somehow feels calm and perfect for a day in. I’m currently boiling the kettle to make myself a nice cup of Teapigs Spiced Winter Red Tea. It has orange peel, cinnamon, ginseng, cloves and I just love it, makes me think of Christmas time.

Candles are another thing that makes the whole experience really cosy and relaxing. At the moment I’m burning this mini Apple & Blue Clover Candle from Voluspa, I adore their candles, they are coconut wax blend and hand-poured. The scent is floral with a hint of Magnolia and a bit fruity, thanks to the Apple but in a very elegant way, my boyfriend picked it up and he has great taste when it comes to scents.

A warm and soft blanket is always a must in such days and of course, a good book. I have a bad habit of reading several books at the same time but I’ve narrowed the number down to two in the past few weeks.
Cooking and baking bring me so much joy that I can’t miss the opportunity to fill the house with delicious aromas. Pity there are no Premier League games this weekend but we can snack on some pastries later, anyway.

I don’t feel like pampering too much today, however, I need a face mask a couple of times a week and Sunday’s choice is the Sephora Orchid Face Mask. These sheet masks are so easy to use and work wonders on my skin. The Lancôme Juicy Shaker in the shade 283 Berry in Love is a huge love of mine because it hydrates my lips beautifully, thanks to the oils in the formula, has a hint of colour and once the oils get absorbed, I’m left with a natural sheen on the lips. I might paint my nails because I just can’t get enough of the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes.

Sunday afternoon is perfect for planning the week ahead, so that will be done later, as well. I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to notes, I like writing them down on paper, as well as having them on my phone. And this is actually a way to remember them much easier.

This is my rainy Sunday plan or at least, some part of it. What are you doing today?

October Favourites

20161026_134943post

Not sure how in the last couple of years, the festive season begins in October but I feel like it’s almost December judging by the decorations everywhere. Luckily, we still have a lot of time to get ready for the holidays, so that we can simply enjoy autumn.

Although my skin isn’t happy about fall weather, at all, I’ve been trying to switch up a few products in my routine and hopefully soon there will be results. I’ve mentioned multiple times how much I love La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] but I just realised I’ve never done a full review on it. In the past few weeks, I discovered the new La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Unifiant in the shade Light which is basically the same product but a tinted version of it. I have to say I love it because it has the same properties as my beloved Duo [+] but has a slight coverage that evens out the complexion. Also, most products from this type look quite orange or pink on me but this one is a pretty good match. I’ll be preparing a full review on this new product very soon.

Another skin saviour for me has been the REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist* (review here). It just keeps my skin radiant-looking, hydrated and it’s also great before applying my evening facial oil. I love how I can spritz it whenever I want throughout the day, even on top of my make-up.

I can’t believe I never included the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Lips in Nude*  in a monthly favourites. Perhaps, it’s because I’ve been using it all the time and just consider it as one of my daily staples without paying much attention. I mix together a few shades for a custom lip look or just apply one of the middle ones on its own, the colours are flattering on many skin tones and I’m in love with this palette. You can read more about this and the red lip palette here.

Another lipstick favourite of mine has been the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipstick in the shade 02 Perfect Match and it shouldn’t be a secret by now that I love the brand’s lipsticks. It just doesn’t matter what kind of finish they have, they are always comfortable on the lips, there’s a really good variety of shades and they are super affordable. This particular lipstick has a gorgeous autumn colour, lasts for about 4 hours on me and doesn’t dry out my lips.

The two nail polishes I’ve been using the most (if not only) in October have been the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes in the shades 116 Café de Nuit and 224 Rose Ballet. If you want an opaque and shiny colour that goes on smoothly, look no further. These also have the same scent as the brand’s lipsticks and it lingers on for about a day on the nails. You can see how the nail polishes look on my nails here.

These are some of my favourite products this autumn season and it seems I’m still into my mauve shades rather than reaching for berry tones but it’s just how I feel at the moment. What have you been loving in the month of October?

Current Nail Polish Obsession

20160929_134150postcollagelorealpolushpost

I know these have been out for a while now but I have to say, nail polishes aren’t really exciting for me this year. The only range that truly impressed me was Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint and I didn’t find myself looking at the nail varnish stands after that.

Because I’ve been out of Norway quite a bit in the past few weeks, I didn’t really have many nail polishes with me, so I picked up one of the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes. It was a random purchase but I fell in love with the shade 116 Café de Nuit, a lovely peachy nude. And then I realised that this nail polish is something totally different from anything I’ve used, so far.

The formula has a blend of precious oils: Rose, Lotus Bloom, Camellia Seed and Argan, to create strong and bold shades that are extremely shiny and to give the colours depth and intensity in one coat.
I love the elegant bottles and the shades, they really are vibrant and glossy, the brush is easy to use, as well. That’s why I picked up two more, 224 Rose Ballet (gorgeous terracota pink and my favourite of all three) and 334 Violet de Nuit (a true dark purple without looking black that would be perfect for the winter time).

I use two thin coats, some people apply one thick layer but I have to say, these nail polishes take a little bit longer to dry, so I wouldn’t do it like this. The texture is really smooth and easy to work with, the coverage is quite opaque and I had a bit of difficulties with the darkest shade only. I have to admit, I often apply these L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes without using base and top coat (Oops!), I’m wearing only the nail colour on the photos, too and yes, they are THAT glossy! I just love how beautiful they look and…smell. The scent of these nail polishes is the same as the brand’s lipsticks one and lingers for about a day or two, it’s not too overpowering and I really like it.
What impressed me the most is that although any nail polish lasts a couple of days on me, these ones stay on my nails for up to 6 days even without base and top coat.

I may be late to the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes party but I’m definitely not leaving it now. What are your favourite colours from the range?

Nail Polish Picks | Summer 2016

DSC_0222post
Usually, during the warmer months, I tend to use brighter and brighter nail shades, however, this year it seems I’m reaching for nudes and neutrals most of the time. Of course, everyone has their own taste and preferences but these are the nail polishes I can’t stop wearing at the moment.

I’ve shared my love for the Bourjois La Laque Nail Enamel range here, I used the shade 1 White Spirit a lot last summer and it’s now back on my nails. I love how clean and elegant it looks, the design of the bottle is quite unique, the formula is incredibly pigmented and the finish is beautiful and glossy.

Whenever I go to Germany, I always spend a lot of time in front of the trend IT UP counter and especially, browsing through their nail polish section. They have so many finishes and colours that it’s a bit overwhelming. My favourite range is without a doubt the Double Volume & Shine one and the shade 110 looked quite different in the bottle when I saw it in stores. When I applied the varnish at home for the first time in the winter, I wasn’t a big fan but now I think it’s quite a nice shade for the warmer weather. It looks a bit more beige in the bottle but on nails, it’s much more peachy and warm. Like all the nail polishes from the range, this one is also very glossy and smooth, the colour is opaque and although I use two coats, it looks great with one, as well.

Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint varnishes are just amazing, I have most of the shades, you can see more here but at the moment I’m in love with Tiki Hut. At first, I didn’t think it looked good on my nails because it’s a pretty dark brown, almost like a coffee brown but it’s going to be quite nice if you have a bit of a tan going on. I love how fast these nail polishes dry, they don’t need a base coat and they look super shiny.

Out of all, the most summery shade has to be Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer in 82 A Gallon of Melon. It’s a fresh peachy-pink shade, the finish is quite creamy and I absolutely love the colour. I’ve had some disappointments with Catrice nail varnishes but I have to say, no complaints here. The formula is smooth and doesn’t go streaky, it does require a couple of layers for an opaque look but it wears pretty well. I adore the shade because it’s not too pink or too bright, it’s just the perfect fresh and summer hue.

Topshop Nails in Sweet & Elite is a pretty pastel purple with a bit of a pearlescent finish, it dries really quickly, it goes on smoothly and streak-free. The only downside is that it doesn’t last very long on my nails but there aren’t many nail polishes that actually do.

These are my nails polish shades of choice for the past (and probably the next) few weeks, what are your favourite summer nail varnishes?

January Favourites

DSC_0652post DSC_0654post DSC_0658post
So, the first month of 2016 has come to an end! Hard to believe, I know… But the thought of time flying really quickly, makes me feel quite down, so I’d better start sharing with you my January favourites.

In the past few weeks, I’ve been enjoying two shower gels. My morning one has been the Ziaja Orange Butter Creamy Shower Soap which smells like freshly pressed orange juice and I love it! This body wash contains Orange Butter derived from orange peel and it actually feels pretty moisturising on the skin, it’s refreshing and awakening. If you have the Polish brand’s products near you, be sure to check this one out.
My favourite evening shower gel has been Sante Grenadine Spirit Shower Gel which is vegan and has Organic Pomegranate in it. For me, it doesn’t smell like pomegranate, I find it warm and sweet-smelling like panettone which makes me feel quite Christmassy. It’s very gentle on the skin, it’s free from silicones, synthetic colourants and preservatives. I love even the design of the tube and I can’t wait to try more of this brand’s products once I’m back to Germany.

I’ve included the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in the shade 01 Jumbo Jetin my November 2015 favourites and my annual favourites but I’d like to mention it one more time because together with the Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-porter Mascara, they make the perfect pair. They are both separating and volumising but together, they do something that just doesn’t happen when I’m using only one of them. First, I go with a coat of Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-porter Mascara and then I finish off with a layer of the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara. The result is long, fluttery, voluminous and gorgeous lashes!

I haven’t used many different nail polishes in the past few weeks, simply because WYCON Nail Lacquer in N. 222 has been on my nails for about three weeks in a row. I couldn’t stop re-applying this beautiful dusty lavender shade and you can read more about it here.

I’ve been keeping the Crabtree & Evelyn‘s Gardeners Hand Therapy by the bathroom sink because I find it very soothing. January has been incredibly cold here in Norway, we have a lot of snow and my hands tend to bleed in such weather. This hand cream is infused with Macadamia Nut OilShea Butter andVitamin E. It smells amazing, warm and not too overpowering, so my boyfriend loves it, as well. It’s not greasy and you can dispense the right amount of product thanks to the pump. It’s not cheap but it lasts a really long time, we also got it in a set and it can be used by both, men and women. Definitely, one of the best hand creams I’ve ever tried.

There are a few more products that I wanted to include in this post but as I’ve been using them for only a couple of weeks, I’ll wait until February because I’m sure I’ll keep loving them.
What are your January favourites?
