On a Rainy Sunday…

photo-23-09-2016-13-10-10postIt’s a rainy Sunday morning, looks quite gloomy outside but just somehow feels calm and perfect for a day in. I’m currently boiling the kettle to make myself a nice cup of Teapigs Spiced Winter Red Tea. It has orange peel, cinnamon, ginseng, cloves and I just love it, makes me think of Christmas time.

Candles are another thing that makes the whole experience really cosy and relaxing. At the moment I’m burning this mini Apple & Blue Clover Candle from Voluspa, I adore their candles, they are coconut wax blend and hand-poured. The scent is floral with a hint of Magnolia and a bit fruity, thanks to the Apple but in a very elegant way, my boyfriend picked it up and he has great taste when it comes to scents.

A warm and soft blanket is always a must in such days and of course, a good book. I have a bad habit of reading several books at the same time but I’ve narrowed the number down to two in the past few weeks.
Cooking and baking bring me so much joy that I can’t miss the opportunity to fill the house with delicious aromas. Pity there are no Premier League games this weekend but we can snack on some pastries later, anyway.

I don’t feel like pampering too much today, however, I need a face mask a couple of times a week and Sunday’s choice is the Sephora Orchid Face Mask. These sheet masks are so easy to use and work wonders on my skin. The Lancôme Juicy Shaker in the shade 283 Berry in Love is a huge love of mine because it hydrates my lips beautifully, thanks to the oils in the formula, has a hint of colour and once the oils get absorbed, I’m left with a natural sheen on the lips. I might paint my nails because I just can’t get enough of the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes.

Sunday afternoon is perfect for planning the week ahead, so that will be done later, as well. I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to notes, I like writing them down on paper, as well as having them on my phone. And this is actually a way to remember them much easier.

This is my rainy Sunday plan or at least, some part of it. What are you doing today?

Cosy Sunday

It’s 3 degrees outside and in such days I just want to stay home. Plus, I really do like being at home, makes me feel calm, I can relax but I can also do something productive.

Usually, I use weekends to spend more time with my boyfriend inside or outside, to bake, to blog and such pleasant things.

It’s autumn/winter, so it calls for warm socks, hot drinks and nourishing skincare.

Lip balm is one of my favourite skincare items, I have at least two different in every room, bag, pocket, jacket, it’s a little bit crazy. The Body Shop Honeymania is one that I’ve had for a year probably but never opened it – why? Because I keep buying and lose track of what I have. It’s a delicious one, it’s really nourishing and cute.

I’ve mentioned how much I love Origins Charcoal mask here, I combine it it with a hydrating one and that’s why I use it only on my T-zone in the autumn and winter. It’s not drying but my cheeks need a little bit more hydration in the colder months.

Sunday is the perfect day for painting your nails, just pick your favourite shade and enjoy. I decided to turn Ciaté London‘s Beach House Collection from a summer set to a winter fairytale by combining two of the shades. First I apply the beautiful nude Amazing Gracie and then top it with a bit of sparkle from Party Shoes. It’s so pretty and festive, so nice that I can use this collection not only in the summer.

After my nail polish is dry, I like to apply hand cream because my hands tend to get super red and flaky when it’s cold, it’s painful, really painful. Luckily, Burt’s Bees Almond and Milk Hand Cream makes my hands soft, feels very soothing and smells wonderful. I just love their products!

When I’m finished with the tasks, my beloved Kindle and a snuggly blanket are my best friends to spend the time with.

How are you spending your cosy Sundays? Wish you a lovely one!

What’s On My Bedside Table

IMG_1040postIMG_1047postIMG_1045post

I try to keep the situation on my bedside table pretty simple. You can see just a couple of products that I use before going to bed because I do my evening skincare routine much earlier.

The most important thing for me is to apply lip balm because night is the time when we don’t drink and eat and it can stay on my lips for at least 6 hours. It’s the best time to nourish my lips and usually I keep a thick lip treatment near me. Origins Lip Remedy contains menthol and camphor which means it feels cooling on the lips. It’s really soothing and although the scent can be pretty strong and the consistency reminds me of a body lotion, I really like this product as an overnight treatment.

Next up is the foot cream and we all feel ashamed to talk about feet. I have to admit that I’m a little bit lazy with my feet mainly because I don’t like the sticky feeling of a lotion or a cream on this part of my body. Luckily, Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream absorbs quickly, smells amazing and nourishes my feet during the night.

I always keep a body lotion on my bedside table in case I’ve missed this step after taking a shower. I just love Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus Revitalising Sorbet because it has a divine scent, it’s lightweight but moisturising at the same time and you can read my review on it here.

Soap & Glory’s Hand Food is one of my favourite hand creams and I can never get bored of the smell. Lovely product along with their hand scrubs. I usually ”wash” my hands with the scrub before going to bed and then apply a thick layer of the hand cream.

The tiny travel bottle with no name, no colour, no nothing is actually a mixture of oils. I have sleeping problems and this little guy helps me feel calmer and sleep better. And although there are many oils inside, it actually smells of mandarins, it’s very fresh and nice.

Usually reading is part of my night routine, I like to read before falling asleep and using my Kindle is the most comfortable way to do it. I was a little bit negative at the beginning but I can give you so many reasons to try such device now. We all love the smell of paper books but we can save many trees by using this or similar little thing, you can carry it everywhere with you and you can load hundreds of books…

What’s your bedside stash?

The Goodreads Tag

IMG_0029post

I think this is a pretty old tag but I still see people doing it, I love reading so I decided to do it too.

What was the last book you marked as read?
“I think therefore I play” by Andrea Pirlo. I love biographies and I love football so when the book is about one of the greatest players of our time, I had to read it and I loved it. Also, there are some great quotes, pretty short book unfortunately.

What are you currently reading?
“The art of racing in the rain” by Gareth Stein.

What was the last book that you marked as to read?
I think it was “Twelve Years a Slave” by Solomon Northup. I constantly add new books to ‘to-read’.

What do you plan to read next?
That’s quite a dilemma, I’m torn between some ‘delicious’ books by Anthony Capella and “Stillness and speed” by Dennis Bergkamp (another biographical read).

Do you use the star rating system?
Most of the time, yes.

Do you have a wishlist?
No, because I use ‘to read’ as a wishlist.

What book do you want to buy next?
I use Kindle because I can carry it everywhere with me and it’s absolutely loaded, yet I keep adding more and more books so you never know.

Do you have any favourite quotes?
Tons! I write them down right after I read them and it’s impossible to put them all here but here are several:

“A book is a loaded gun in the house next door…Who knows who might be the target of the well-read man?”
― Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451

“Every true love and friendship is a story of unexpected transformation. If we are the same person before and after we loved, that means we haven’t loved enough.”

― Elif Shafak, The Forty Rules of Love

“My contention is that your blessings derive from your positive contributions. But they must come from the heart. Not because of what you expect in return. Otherwise what you contributed was a loan, not a gift.”

― Gil Scott-Heron, The Last Holiday

and many many more…

Who are your favourite authors?
Impossible to answer this one, there are so many outstanding authors. The only thing I can say is that there is one who makes me very emotional and I’m crying and laughing and crying when I read something from him no matter if it’s a book or song lyrics and it’s Tiziano Ferro.

Have you joined any groups?
No, actually I’m active on Goodreads only for myself. I mean, it’s kind of keeping an archive for myself, checking reviews and so on but I don’t even have friends there, I haven’t even added my boyfriend I think.

It would be pretty interesting for me to see what you like to read so if you feel for it, just do this tag! :-)
