On a Rainy Sunday…

photo-23-09-2016-13-10-10postIt’s a rainy Sunday morning, looks quite gloomy outside but just somehow feels calm and perfect for a day in. I’m currently boiling the kettle to make myself a nice cup of Teapigs Spiced Winter Red Tea. It has orange peel, cinnamon, ginseng, cloves and I just love it, makes me think of Christmas time.

Candles are another thing that makes the whole experience really cosy and relaxing. At the moment I’m burning this mini Apple & Blue Clover Candle from Voluspa, I adore their candles, they are coconut wax blend and hand-poured. The scent is floral with a hint of Magnolia and a bit fruity, thanks to the Apple but in a very elegant way, my boyfriend picked it up and he has great taste when it comes to scents.

A warm and soft blanket is always a must in such days and of course, a good book. I have a bad habit of reading several books at the same time but I’ve narrowed the number down to two in the past few weeks.
Cooking and baking bring me so much joy that I can’t miss the opportunity to fill the house with delicious aromas. Pity there are no Premier League games this weekend but we can snack on some pastries later, anyway.

I don’t feel like pampering too much today, however, I need a face mask a couple of times a week and Sunday’s choice is the Sephora Orchid Face Mask. These sheet masks are so easy to use and work wonders on my skin. The Lancôme Juicy Shaker in the shade 283 Berry in Love is a huge love of mine because it hydrates my lips beautifully, thanks to the oils in the formula, has a hint of colour and once the oils get absorbed, I’m left with a natural sheen on the lips. I might paint my nails because I just can’t get enough of the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche à L’Huile Nail Varnishes.

Sunday afternoon is perfect for planning the week ahead, so that will be done later, as well. I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to notes, I like writing them down on paper, as well as having them on my phone. And this is actually a way to remember them much easier.

This is my rainy Sunday plan or at least, some part of it. What are you doing today?

Favourite Lip Care Products

Lip balms are what got me into beauty, I’ve always been crazy about them, I’ve tried and keep trying many different ones and I simply can’t get tired of them. After I started spending more time in Norway, I saw the need of lip balms in my life even more. That’s why I decided to share some of my favourite lip care products with you, tried and tested in Scandinavian weather conditions.

Favourite lip balm in a stick form
Burt’s Bees and I have a long love connection, their products are some of my favourites and their lip balms are like no others. I’ve tried almost all of them but my favourite always remains their Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter. They all have great fruity flavours, they are incredibly moisturising, travel-friendly, transparent and not too shiny, so they can be used by both, men and women and they are 100% natural.

Favourite lip balm in a pot
If you want to see how the A.S Apothecary Lip Balm #7 Smooth & Calm looks, check out this blog post because the one here is just the tiny empty jar left but it’s such a big love of mine that I wanted to say a few words about it. This lip balm contains Almond Oil, Unrefined Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, Unrefined Avocado Oil and Organic Honey, all amazing ingredients. It’s incredibly hydrating and lightweight at the same time, it feels soothing on the lips and has a lovely scent, delicate and sophisticated. One of the best lip balms I’ve ever tried!

Favourite lip balm in a squeeze tube
This isn’t exactly a lip balm, it’s more of a multi-purpose cream but it works wonders on my lips during the cold months. Kaufmanns Cream is a relatively thick cream that looks pretty white once it’s applied, so I try to use it when I’m at home. Actually, it needs just a couple of applications to do its job, it has a gentle scent and can be used by the whole family. The downside is that it’s not so easy to find it (it’s available only in Germany and it’s sold out most of the time) but it’s quite affordable and one tube lasts a long time

Favourite overnight lip treatment
NUXE Rêve de Miel is a cult classic and I tend to use it at night because I don’t really like it on the day, it’s just a bit too thick and grainy but I love it as a ”lip mask”. It has a lovely scent and heals my lips really well overnight. I got a few of their anniversary pots a couple of years ago and I still have some that are completely new, they just last a really long time.

Favourite lip balm with sun protection
I don’t have that many lip care products with sun protection but I love the Bobbi Brown Lip Balm SPF 15. It has a delicate rose scent, it looks pink but goes clear on the lips and stays for hours. Even after eating and drinking, there’s still the silky feel from the lip balm and I love it. It’s not sticky or greasy and I often use it underneath my lip pencils, for example.

Favourite tinted lip oil
You can see how much I love my Lancôme Juicy Shakers and especially the one in the shade 252 Vanilla Pop, I’ve almost used it all up. I’ve talked about them here but they are basically a combination between nourishing lip oils and gorgeous pigments, they are fun to use, they are hydrating, non-sticky and they all smell different and amazing. My other favourites are 283 Berry in Love and 301 Meli Melon.

Favourite limited edition lip treatment
When it comes to limited edition lip balms, there is one brand that always makes me fall in love with theirs. A few times a year L’Occitane release special editions of their lip balms. I love their original one and I always want to get the new balms when they’re out because they have unique scents and designs with the same nourishing and lovely formula. I can’t say which one is my favourite because I’ve tried so many of them and I adore them all!

These are some of my favourite lip care products, I’m really curious to know what lip balms you love most!

March Favourites

April is almost here, so my hopes for finally having some spring days in Norway are getting high. It’s time for all the rain to go away and make space for some sunshine!

It looks like most of my favourites this month are body-related but I’ve been really enjoying these products.
It’s not the first time that I’m using a body scrub from M. Asam, they are just amazing and I’m in love with this Brown Sugar Body Exfoliant. It’s basically sugar crystals soaked in grape seed oil, so it exfoliates really well and conditions the skin at the same time. It also smells incredible and this big jar contains 600 grams of product which is going to last a really long time.

Rituals have some of my favourite body products and all the good reviews I’ve read about their Honey Touch Indian Rose & Himalaya Honey Body Cream are true. It’s such a rich moisturiser but all the product sinks into the skin and doesn’t leave any noticeable film on top. It leaves my skin nourished and scented with the most elegant fragrance and I simply can’t get enough of it. Rituals are really making it hard for me to pick a favourite line from them.

I’ve been using only aluminum-free deodorants for the past few years and it turns out that it’s quite hard to find one. Luckily, there are a few drugstores and bio shops that have affordable aluminum-free deodorants. Dr. Organic‘s Organic Pomegranate Deodorant was a random purchase. I was just passing by a bio shop and saw a huge display of the brand’s products. It was really hard to choose from all the scents they had but I decided to go for this one. It actually has a delicate rose scent for me rather than pomegranate and I think it’s a very good everyday deodorant that isn’t sticky or uncomfortable to wear. It’s vegan and I’d definitely try the other scents.

My skincare favourite for the last couple of months has been Clinique Superdefense Night Recovery Moisturiser* which I reviewed here. It’s one of the best night creams I’ve ever tried, it’s fragrance-free, it saves my skin in the cold weather, it makes me look more radiant and healthy and I’m simply in love with it.

Last but not least, a product that receives so many different comments but for me, it’s one of the most exciting launches of the year. I love Lisa Eldridge and I’ve been waiting for these beauties for months. Now that I finally have them, I’m using them all the time and I think I’m addicted to them. Lancôme Juicy Shaker combines nourishing lip oils and pigments to condition the lips and to give them a juicy and beautiful look. Yes, the oil disappears less than an hour after application but it leaves a pretty stain and the lips still feel nourished and soft. I’ve done a full review on the product, so check it out here to see swatches of 12 of the shades. Some of my favourite ones are: Vanilla Pop, Meli Melon, Berry in Love and Mangoes Wild.

These are my March beauty favourites and I’m curious to know what you’ve been loving in the past few weeks.

Shake Shake Shake, Dab Dab Dab!

When I first heard the news about Lancôme‘s new Juicy Shaker back in November 2015, I almost screamed with excitement and I couldn’t wait for the spring to arrive. This little gem is one of the most anticipated lip products for 2016, it’s unique, it’s different and when Lisa Eldridge is involved, you know it’s going to be amazing.

Lancôme Juicy Shaker is a mix between the original Cocktail Shaker Lipstick from 1945 and the famous Juicy Tubes from the 1990s. It’s a lip gloss with bi-phase formula combining nourishing lip oils and beautiful pigments for natural looking but glossy and plump lips. The oils contain Omega 3 and 6, Almond Oil, Peach Seed Oil, Muscat Rose Oil and Cranberry Oil for hydrated and soft lips.

The tiny shaker packaging comes with a cushion applicator that is very bouncy and comfortable on the lips, it has a really good shape that makes the application really easy. The formula of the gloss is incredibly moisturising and non-sticky and you can build up the pigment to the desired level by simply adding a few layers of the product. Give it a good shake before use, so that the oils and the pigment mix together. Then dab (don’t swipe) the product onto the lips to really press the pigment and get the colour you want.

Juicy Shaker comes in 14 amazing shades, one of them, 400 Mint to Be, is limited edition. Each shade has its own fragrance and you can mix together different colours and fragrances to create your own Juicy Shaker.
I’m really excited to show you swatches of 12 of the shades, as I’m missing 283 Berry in Love and 400 Mint to Be.
My favourite shades are 252 Vanilla Pop, 301 Meli Melon, 372 Berry Tale and 381 Mangoes Wild. Some shades have shimmer in them, some don’t but all are really pretty. As you can see, 300 Lemon Explosion and 313 Boomeringue look very sheer and that’s because they are quite light pink shades with a lot of shimmer in them but when they’re applied on the lips, they do give a nice tint to them.

The lasting power isn’t the best but these glosses are such a pleasure to re-apply that I really don’t mind it and if this means that I’ll have juicy and nourished lips, I’m up for it! They actually keep my lips soft and moisturised even hours after the oil has faded

If you want to see these beauties in action and to learn which are Lisa‘s favourite colours, check out this video. You can already find them in Norway for the price of 195 kr.

Lancôme Juicy Shakers are fun, moisturising, beautiful and delicious lip glosses and they don’t seem to leave my handbag at the moment. I think I might be addicted to them!
