January Favourites

IMG_1645post IMG_1648post IMG_1652post

I feel like 2015 started just yesterday and here I am writing my January favourites post, time flies!

I didn’t use so many different products this month, I tried to stick to my winter essentials and stay hydrated – inside and out, but there are several items that I got in December and January was definitely their month.

Such product is Mask of Magnaminty by Lush (review here). I got it before the Christmas holidays and since then it has been pretty much the only mask that I’ve been using. There is a new hero in town though but I will tell you more about it next month. Mask of Magnaminty is fresh, gets rid of all the impurities, feels comfortable – you can eat and talk when you have it on and leaves your skin incredibly soft. It may not make my pores smaller but the rest is enough for me to like it.

There isn’t a season when I don’t use lip balm but in the winter this skincare product is essential. Lately, I’ve been loving the Eco Lips Berry Lip Balm SPF15* which is 100% organic, smells very nice, goes clear and a bit glossy on the lips, feels light but it’s quite moisturising. It’s super affordable, it’s Fair Trade certified, mine came with a clip which means that you can attach it to your purse, keychains, everything and not lose it. It’s gluten free and the tubes are made of recycled material. Plus, there are so many flavour options!

Being on the skincare topic, I can’t miss to mention how much my hands suffer in the winter. I wash them hundreds of times a day, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen because I love cooking and the result is dry and flaky hands, plus the pain is horrible! I have quite a few favourite hand products but there was one in January that made the big difference and it was Burt’s Bees Hand Salve. It’s quite hard to find it in the city I’m in, so I’m very happy I won this from Burt’s Bees Norway competition but I managed to send a tin to my family and they love it as well. It smells like an ointment, so I guess not all would like it but for me this is in no way a problem. It looks hard but it actually melts into an oil, I featured it in my 2014 favourites and there is a reason for that. Highly recommend! (I’m not being paid to talk about Burt’s Bees all the time, I just love their products so much!)

There are a couple of make-up products that I used almost every day in January. I don’t actually wear blushers because my cheeks have some natural redness but when I saw the Kicks Blusher in English Rose, I decided to take it and I’m happy I did it. It’s great for all year round but especially for the winter because it has a hint of purple, it’s not bright or too pink, it just looks really pretty and as if you haven’t used a make-up product to get the pop of colour on your face.

I avoid talking about eyebrows because I struggle with mine quite a lot, I still haven’t found the perfect way to make them look pretty but there is one product that I’ve been using for several months now and I really like it. It’s the Clarins Eyebrow Pencil and mine is in the shade 01 Dark Brown. The shade is perfect for me and it’s quite ashy, so there is no weird orange tone going through the hairs. The pencil has a brush on one end and the colour on the other. The texture is not too dry but not too creamy either. The eyebrow pencil requires sharpening but lasts pretty long time and you don’t need to do it every week. Stays put all day and I’m really happy with it at the moment.

Autumn Love

Autumn is such a pretty season although it’s often rainy and gloomy here in Norway. I just love the orange, brown, yellow, red colours around us, the leaves on the trees and streets, just the look of it makes me feel cosy and want to grab a cup of tea.

There are a couple of products that I’m reaching for more often in the fall than in the other seasons and the first one is fragrance. I’m not usually a fan of heavy fragrances but I notice that I use them in the colder months, it just feels appropriate. Place Vendôme EDP by Boucheron is such fragrance for me and at first feels quite sharp and grown up but as it dries down, it gets softer, more elegant and feminine.

Nail polish is the other beauty item that I change with the new season and although I’ve been using mainly nude shades in the past month, I can’t get enough of Essie‘s Damsel in a Dress which I reviewed here.

I use moisturisers on my face and body all the time but I’m trying to apply them more often during autumn and winter. My daily moisturiser remains the same almost always, my skin is happy with Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Hydrating Care, I love the series because it’s great for my combination skin.

Recently, I won a great prize from Burt’s Bees Norway and I’m already making a good use of their Hand Salve which is a solid balm that melts into oil between your palms. It’s wonderful especially at night, I apply it before going to bed and my hands are hydrated and soft on the next morning. It’s like a thick lip balm but for your hands, I’m completely in love.

And of course, scarves! Need I say more?

What do you love in the autumn season?

Haul: Burt’s Bees 30th Birthday!

IMG_0904post IMG_0906post

Last month Burt’s Bees celebrated their 30th birthday! I’m sure everybody knows Burt’s Bees and especially their lip balms but basically it’s a skincare brand that is not testing on animals, their products are natural and just wonderful.

Usually, when you have a birthday, you receive presents but Burt’s Bees Norway decided to give presents to the others! They organised an Instagram contest and I was one of the lucky winners. The prize was a box filled with their classics.

I was very excited because I genuinely love the brand, I’ve tried many of their products but there are also some items that I’ll be trying for the first time. I have to say that the box was so cute and wrapped with care, there was a hand-written personal message, candies, a balloon and it was simply amazing. A real birthday present!

Now to the products inside the box.
There is the well-know Beeswax Lip Balm and I’m pretty sure I have at least 5 in the different scents and formulas, this one here is the original one. Pocket-friendly, perfect for all year round but especially in the winter, one of my all-time favourite lip balms.

I’m pretty curious about the Res-Q Ointment because it’s a remedy for bumps, bruises, insect bites and all kinds of minor injuries. I’ve heard a lot about it but never tried it.

I found two hand products in the box – the Hand Salve and the Almond and Milk Hand Cream.

I’ve been using the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream for a very long time and I’ve actually included it in my first ever post on this blog, that’s how much I love it.

Last but not least is the Coconut Foot Cream which I haven’t tried before and sure I’ll get good use of it in the colder months.

Thank you for the lovely prize Burt’s Bees Norway!
