Get Glossy!

I never thought I would wear lip gloss on a regular basis but something changed a couple of years ago. For me, glosses have always been a bit too sticky, never moisturising and way too glittery, so even if there were new launches, I just didn’t even want to hear about them.

However, make-up nowadays gets better and better and I realised there are actually brilliant lip glosses out there. I wasn’t sure whether to mention my favourite Lancôme Juicy Shakers here but for me, they are more of a lip oil rather than a gloss, so I’ll stick to the proper lip glosses.

The product that converted me to a lip gloss fan was Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector and I always have one in my handbag since I discovered them. My favourite shades are 06 Rosewood Shimmer (browny nude), 07 Toffee Pink Shimmer (dusky rose) and 08 Plum Shimmer (muted berry). These glosses are moisturising, thanks to the Shea Butter, Vitamin E and A added, they don’t feel sticky and they are candy-flavoured.

KICKS Lip Fusion in the shade Delicious* has a similar idea but it’s half the price and the difference comes from the fact that it’s much less pigmented and there are only two shades for now. The formula is still quite nourishing, as it contains Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E, it’s a handbag-friendly product and I really like it.

My most recent discovery and love must be Dior Addict Milky Tint in the shade 286 Milky Plum (you can see swatches of all 6 shades here). It’s really different from the others because it has a milky finish, it’s not a typical lip gloss, it’s incredibly moisturising and gives a smooth and plump look to the lips. Also, this shade is a beautiful lilac one that looks quite fresh but it’s not necessarily a spring/summer colour.

More budget-friendly options are the lip glosses from Essence and Golden Rose. Essence have some of my favourite glosses and they were the first drugstore ones to catch my eye in a long time. I’ve used up a few of them and then a dear friend of mine sent to me this trio of minis that I always travel with. Along with Golden Rose Colour Sensation LipGloss in the shade 103, these are just lovely, sweet-smelling but not too overpowering, non-sticky glosses that I enjoy just as much as my high-end ones.

Now I know that comfortable and beautiful lip glosses exist and these are some of my absolute favourite ones. Do you have any other recommendations for me? I’d love to try more, considering I’m not so sceptical when it comes to glosses anymore.

Drugstore Beauty Haul | Fall 2016

Photo 02-09-2016 12 54 20postPhoto 02-09-2016 12 53 36postPhoto 02-09-2016 12 52 49 (1)post
I can’t hide it, I just love autumn and the fall beauty launches. I genuinely think that spring and fall beauty releases are the most exciting ones and always look forward to seeing them.

I’m away from Norway which means it’s the perfect time to do some drugstore shopping. I’ve mentioned before that there aren’t that many affordable brands in the country, so whenever I travel, I try to stock up on some highstreet products.

Not all of the items here are necessarily autumn launches but these two from Essence are quite new and I just loved the shades when I saw them. There’s a new Try it. Love it! Fall/Winter 2016 Collection from the brand with products like face and eyeshadow palettes, nail polishes, bases and lipsticks. If you’ve seen some of my posts, you’d know I’m a big fan of the brand’s lipsticks because they have a lot of different shades and finishes. I picked up the Matt Matt Matt Lipstick in the shade 02 Perfect Match which isn’t drying on the lips, at all, it’s light and creamy, very comfortable to wear and I believe there were two more shades. If you have trouble finding the right matte lipstick, give this one a go because it looks quite matte but doesn’t feel matte. It lasts about 4 hours on me which is great, especially considering how affordable it is. Honestly, I’ve been using this lipstick every single day for the past two weeks, even if I’ve applied something else in the morning. I just love it and in fact, it doesn’t look as dark as it seems on the swatch.
The second product from the brand that I added to my shopping basket was their new Satin Touch Blush in the shade 20 Satin Love. This one is in the most beautiful rosewood shade that is perfect for autumn, there’s a slight sheen to it but no glitter and I forgot how pigmented Essence blushes were! Really happy with these two products and I’d recommend checking them out.

I needed a new face powder and I remembered many people were talking about Catrice powders. The decision was tough because there were many on the display and also, how gorgeous the latest Catrice products look? I limited myself to their All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder in 010 Transparent. It’s a finely-milled powder that doesn’t make my face look flat, it mattifies but also gives radiance to the skin and I love it. I do have to use it a couple of times a day because it’s still quite warm and the shine peaks through but I really regret not checking out Catrice powders earlier.

There’s a brand I haven’t seen before called Aura and I was intrigued by their liquid lipsticks, sadly, the shades I liked were sold out. So, I decided to try their Correct Me! Concealer in the shade 302 Pastel Beige. I was surprised by the shade range, they had so many shades and it was difficult to pick the right one with the bad lighting in the store but I think this one is pretty good on me. I can use it around the face or under my eyes, as it’s not too light or brightening and I have to say, it works really well. The texture is creamy and not too thick, it has a very good coverage and lasts a decent amount of time. I do need to set it with powder because it creases a bit but I really like it. Another item from them is the Bronzer/Contour Brush and I have to say, their brushes are hit and miss but I like this one, I haven’t used it that much yet but I like how soft it is.

Golden Rose have so many lip products that it’s slightly overwhelming. I’ve heard a lot about their Matte Lipstick Crayons and I picked up two shades but I already lost one of them, so I’ll have to go back and get a new one. The shade number 11 is a really pretty berry one and I can’t wait to wear it in the autumn/winter. The product goes on smoothly, feels comfortable and I haven’t noticed any drying, so far.

I also picked up a few skincare products that I’m curious about. The first one is Chamomile Water from Armina Bio. I love floral waters and this one feels very soothing and refreshing on the skin, it has a light scent and I think I might have to get the rest of the waters from the brand.
Still haven’t tried this Balea Aqua Moisturising Serum but I love the eye cream from the same range and I’m happy I also found the Sheet Mask.
Purederm is a Korean brand that has brilliant face wipes (and that comes from a person that doesn’t like face wipes), so I picked up their Collagen Eye Zone Mask patches. I’ve tried them only once and they feel really soothing and refreshing.

The only hair product comes from L’Oreal and it’s the Arginine Resist Double Elixir Express Conditioner. I used to use their spray leave-in conditioners and I remembered how shiny and soft my hair was and everyone was telling me it smelled amazing. This is a bi-phased treatment and I use it on both, damp or dry hair, it doesn’t make it greasy or dirty-looking. I love how it makes my hair easy to comb, glossy and soft, it also smells of berries.

These won’t be my last drugstore purchases this month, so if you have any recommendations about what I should take a look at, please leave me a comment!

Favourite Nail Polishes | Winter 2016

In the past couple of months, I’ve been reaching out for always the same nail shades and I decided to share them with you.

As you can see, I like to wear berry and burgundy nail polishes in the autumn and winter but I’m a nude nail lover, so Essie‘s Urban Jungle is the neutral shade here. It’s light grey with beige undertones and looks less sharp than a completely white nail varnish but still sophisticated and pretty.

The more purple shades are actually my most worn ones in the past few weeks. WYCON Nail Lacquer in N. 222 has its own review here simply because I’m in love with this lavender colour, the consistency and the shiny finish of it. A deeper mauve creme that goes opaque even with one coat is the p2 Volume Gloss Gel Look Polish in 021 Young Miss.

Maybelline SuperStay 7 Day Gel Nail Colour in the shade Berry Stain (review here) and Golden Rose WOW! Nail Colour in 62  are really similar berry colours but the Maybelline one is a bit brighter and more vibrant, while the Golden Rose one is kind of creamier and deeper purple.

Golden Rose WOW! Nail Colour in 66 is a beautiful burgundy shade that has the amazing formula of all the nail polishes from this range, I’m in love with these minis.

And last but not least, Essie and Damsel in a Dress (review here). This will always be one of my favourite winter shades, beautiful aubergine colour with a tiny bit of warm purple shimmer. It looks absolutely stunning!

What are your favourite winter nail polish shades?

2015 Beauty Favourites

At the end of the year, I won’t talk about New Year’s resolutions or big ideas and changes, I will keep that for myself. But I’d like to wish you and your loved ones an amazing, healthy and happy 2016!

It is pretty difficult for me to share all my beauty favourites for the year in just one post, there’s always the chance to miss something that you really loved and you’re still loving. I have a mix of affordable and more high-end products that I split into a few categories but I’m still struggling to find the best way of doing it.

Skincare Products

Skincare got me into beauty and the first item I went really crazy about was lip balm. I simply love lip balms, I have way too many and I don’t think I will ever get tired of them. The L’Occitane x Pierre Hermé Paris Pamplemousse Rhubarbe Lip Balm is the newest addition to my lip balm collection but I’ve always loved the brand’s lip balms and the limited edition scent just makes it a bit more special. It feels very light on the lips and makes them really soft. Lightweight is also my second favourite lip balm. I saved just the tiny jar, I’m pretty sad that I’ve already used up the product because it’s not available in Norway and it’s a gorgeous, nourishing balm that melts in contact with your lips and has a delicate and sophisticated scent. It’s from A.S Apothecary and it’s their Lip Balm #7 Vanilla and Lavender*, I’m simply in love with this product.
Another A.S Apothecary skincare gem that I wanted to include in my favourites is their Cleansing Oil #5 Soothing & Restorative*. I’ve done a full review on it here but I just want to say that this is the best cleansing oil I’ve tried, it’s not heavy for my combination skin, it has great cleansing properties and an exquisite rose scent.
Pure Rose Water has been my favourite toner for years and I love this Rose Water Facial Mist* from Mirins Copenhagen, I just keep re-filling the pretty glass bottle.
I added two facial serums to my 2015 favourites because I use one in the morning and a different one at night. Looking at the bottle of this Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Active Concentrate makes me realise it’s time to get another one. I don’t know how many bottles of this milky serum I’ve gone through but it makes my skin soft and it’s great for combination skin because it keeps it blemish-free. It also has lactic acid which is a hydrating acid and I’ve included this product in a favourites post twice last year, a staple for me!
At night I’ve been mostly using the Mirins Copenhagen Facial Serum* which isn’t a traditional serum, it’s an oil and I loved taking it with me on trips, as it’s really moisturising but also calming and always keeps my skin in good condition.
Last but not least, my favourite face oil! In 2014, when I did my first annual beauty favourites, I included the Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil and I still love it. However, this year I discovered the Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil (review here). I have combination skin that is often dehydrated, too and I thought it was pretty difficult to nourish and make the dry patches go away but to keep the oil at bay where it’s needed at the same time. These oils are one of the best things that has happened to my skin, they give me the needed care without breaking me out and I’d really recommend checking them out, one bottle lasts really long time!

Make-up Products
I may go out without foundation on my face but concealer is an essential for me. I have pretty dark circles under my eyes, a bit of redness here and there and occasionally, a spot will appear thanks to my skin type. So, I’m always on the hunt for the best do-it-all concealer and I was pretty lucky in 2015. I have a drugstore and a high-end options for you and they both can be used all over the face. The Essence Camouflage Cream Concealer duo is my favourite travel bag concealer. It has a darker and a lighter shade that can be mixed for more coverage, it’s creamy but not heavy and doesn’t crease, it wears pretty well throughout the day. Another concealer that can be used under the eyes but also on imperfections around the face is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. This is such a pigmented and creamy concealer, has great coverage and doesn’t set into fine lines, feels light on the skin and you really don’t need much product. I’ve done a full review on it here.
Moving on to brows, without any doubt my favourite eyebrow pencil has been Soap&Glory‘s Archery 2-in-1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush in Hot Chocolate. The texture is really nice, the pencil is very skinny, so it gives you really good control and would’ve been nice if this product was available in Norway.
I’m quite picky with my mascaras but two stood out for me this year. Benefit Roller Lash Super-Curling & Lifting Mascara (review here) is one of my all-time favourite mascaras with a great brush and formula. This mascara lifts, curls, separates, lengthens and thickens the lashes and makes them look simply gorgeous. I can’t say enough good words about this product.
A bit newer release is the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in 01 Jumbo Jet*  with another amazing brush. I really wanted to include a drugstore mascara but I just realised I haven’t tried any drugstore mascaras in 2015! I never seemed to use more expensive ones before… So, you have to know that this mascara gets better with the time and makes the lashes fluttery and voluminous. I love how it separates the lashes and makes them super black.
My favourite blush has been the Essence Silky Touch Blush in 20 Babydoll. This is such an affordable but an incredibly pigmented blush, it’s not powdery at all and has a minimal shimmer, it looks beautiful on the skin.
The highlighting pen I’ve been loving is without a doubt the YSL Touche Éclat and this limited Kiss & Love edition is simply stunning! I have it in the shade 2 Luminous Ivory* and you can read more about it here.
I have two lip pencils in my 2015 favourites and they’re both from the drugstore. The shades look pretty similar, it’s just what I like but the formulas are an example of how a good lip liner should feel. GOSH Velvet Touch Waterproof Lipliner in the shade 002 Antique Rose and Essence Lipliner in 06 Satin Mauve are soft and creamy, they stay for hours on the lips and I’m wearing them almost every day in the autumn/winter.
When I reached the lipsticks part for this post, I think I had more than 10 favourite ones but at the end, I picked up 5 because this long post would have been even longer! Starting with the drugstore finds, it has been a year full of Essence, as it seems. Their Longlasting Lipstick in the shade 07 Natural Beauty is the perfect everyday lipstick colour. Swatches here.
The Maybelline ColourSensational lipstick in 342 Mauve Mania gives life to my face like nothing else and I even dedicated a full post to it here. And the Alverde‘s Bube Dame König in 20 Pi(n)k-Mauve is the best nude shade for me. You can read more about it here.
One of the most exciting beauty releases this year must be the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer lipsticks. They are pigmented, they are hydrating but also long-wearing and they have amazing range of colours. My current favourite is 21 Rebel Pop* because it’s a gorgeous dark burgundy shade perfect for this time of the year. The posts dedicated to these lipsticks are here and here.
Do I need to add something when I say MAC Plumful (review here)? This could easily be in all of my annual beauty favourites.
I’m not a big lip gloss fan but there have been some really good finds this year. Like the Essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss in the shade 06 Soft Almond. Just adds a hint of colour, it’s comfortable to wear and it’s not sticky or too sweet.

Nail Products
This was another tough category because I’ve purchased so many nail polishes in 2015 and I fell in love with so many of them that including less than 10 here seemed unrealistic. However, I’ve picked up three formulas instead of shades. Bourjois La Laque and this particular shade 7 Lycheers had to make it to the final selection. It’s creamy, pigmented and glossy! Full review here.
Golden Rose have so many different finishes and colours in their nail ranges that it was hard to choose just one but I went for their minis. The WOW! Nail Colour series has smooth formula, not too thick, not too runny, opaque colour and pretty good staying power for the price.
DM’s own brand trend IT UP really impressed me with their Double Volume & Shine line. Beautiful shades, shiny finish and intense colour payoff, the brush is lovely, as well.
I had to mention two Essence nail products because they add the final touches to my manicure. The Gel Nail Polish Top Coat extends the life of my nail varnish and adds an incredible shine while the Nail Art Express Dry Drops (review here) are perfect if you’re impatient like me.

Body Products and Tools
Last but not least, the tiniest category. You’ve probably seen my post on the new Weleda Almond Sensitive Body Care where I shared my love for their Almond Sensitive Skin Body Lotion*. This lotion is very lightweight but incredibly nourishing and has the loveliest and gentle scent. I love the pump, I love how quickly it absorbs and the fact that is not sticky.
I think I’m going to share more about this YSL Black Opium EDP in a future post but I’m pretty sure you already have it or at least you’ve tested it, so you’ll know why I’m attracted by this mysterious and addicting fragrance.
I really wanted to feature the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler in my annual beauty favourites because it changed my eyelash game! You can see before and after photo here and what I’d like to say is please, don’t use cheap curlers, as they may be pretty dangerous, better invest in a good pair and you will see the difference!

That concludes my 2015 beauty favourites, thank you for reading my blog, hope to see you in 2016, as well! Have a fantastic new year!

October Favourites

Welcome to my pink October favourites! The past few weeks have been quite cold, so I noticed there are more and more hydrating products being added to my routine.

Although my skin is combination, I’ve been really enjoying a product, usually chosen by people with dry skin. I’m talking about Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief. I’m a face mist lover and this mini bottle has been with me almost every day in October. The mist is very fine, it feels refreshing and soothing, it’s very hydrating but without making me shiny, it just gives a nice glow. This product is oil-free and makes my skin really soft.

My favourite body moisturiser has been without a doubt Weleda Almond Sensitive Skin Body Lotion* which I reviewed here. Incredibly light, yet very hydrating and calming. I also love the way it smells, it’s very warm and gentle.

The hand cream that I’ve been throwing in my bag most of the time has been Soap & Glory‘s Hand Food in Fruitigo. I got this in a set of three hand creams, as I really love the original Hand Food and they are all amazing. They basically have the same properties as the original one but these minis come in different scents and the one here is Yuzu & Green Fig which smells wonderful.

Sephora‘s fibre masks are lovely and I should have picked more face masks when I was in Italy but the eye ones are simply gorgeous. These two here are the Pearl Eye Mask which is meant to illuminate the skin and make it look more fresh and radiant and the Lotus Eye Mask that locks in water to make your eyes feel rested. These masks are just so refreshing and moisturising, I love using them in the evenings when I have some more time for myself.

However, I still need concealers to hide my dark circles. My go-to concealer duo has been the Essence Camouflage Cream Concealer because I can use it under my eyes or on imperfections around my face. The shade match is really good, the product is creamy and light but has a decent amount of coverage. I mentioned this concealer here in my First Impressions post including some of the latest Essence releases and you can see that it was love from first application.

Last but not least, I’d like to show you a nail polish that has been on my nails for the past 3 weeks! I’ve been constantly re-painting my nails with this shade which looks a bit more beige on the swatch but it’s actually a dusty rose colour with brown undertones. It’s from Golden Rose and their WOW! Nail Colour range, the shade is 11 and I really need to go and pick up some more because I love the formula and they have about 100 colours!

Hope you’ve had a great October!
