Autumn is officially here! There’s something magical about this season and although we connect it to berry tones when it comes to beauty, this year I’d like to focus more on the glow. The glow that just makes you look healthy and radiant and that still reminds you a bit of those summer days.
The two products I’m talking about today might be seen as summer staples but they look so subtle and beautiful that I don’t see a reason not to include them in my autumn routine, as well.
I’ve been using this Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in Opal for a couple of months and I can’t seem to be able to put it away. First of all, it’s a mini which makes it perfect for any handbag or travel makeup bag. This liquid version is great if you like a more subtle look or if you prefer to mix it with your moisturiser or foundation, for example because it has a thin, almost water-like consistency. I like that it applies easily even if the skin is a bit more dry or dehydrated and it doesn’t make the dry patches more visible. Opal is a soft peachy gold that looks pearlescent but when it’s in this liquid form the colour is less visible and it simply leaves a beautiful dewy sheen with no glitter. I usually apply a little bit on the high points of my face, as I have shiny T-zone. I don’t really use dewy bases, so I don’t mix it with my foundation but the combination looks beautiful on normal and dry skin. I’d like to add that for me, this is the most flattering shade from the Becca range on all skin tones, it’s absolutely beautiful.
The Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Sunset Blvd was featured in my June Favourites post because it’s a really pretty golden bronze summer shade but I have to say, it’s lovely to use all year round (you can see it swatched on the last photo or in the favourites post). And that is because you can apply it lightly for a sheer wash of colour with a beautiful sheen or you can make it look more opaque and luminous.
I usually use it on its own all over the lids or with a bit of brown eyeliner or eyeshadow smudged in. I just love a simple and elegant look. The formula of the shadow is very soft and creamy, it’s so easy to work with, blends like a dream and doesn’t crease.
Some people said it’s been discontinued but I noticed that it’s still available on the brand’s website as part of sets.
My makeup routine has become even more simple than before because of the allergy/rash I got. At the moment I’m all about fresh looking skin, I rarely apply foundation, I cover up imperfections with concealers just to look a bit more awake and I focus on eye and cheek products. I’m looking forward to the autumn days, hoping that the lower temperatures will be better for my skin, as well.
Autumn is time of the year that I normally love but this summer was such a wonderful one for me that I feel quite sad it’s gone. However, I’m completely embracing taking the knitwear out of the wardrobe, applying mauve and berry lipsticks and using gorgeous hydrating creams and lotions.
I’m still trying to keep a small part of my sweet summer around by having the Bourjois La Laque nail polish in 1 White Spirit on my nails. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants an opaque and beautiful white nail shade.
On my lips, I reach for Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 077 Asia more and more often. It’s creamy but it has decent lasting power, doesn’t dry out my lips and the vintage pink shade is simply gorgeous.
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Honey Drops Body Cream is a favourite of my mum and I confess I’m currently borrowing it but it’s just because it’s great at locking moisture into your skin, it’s light yet rich, absorbs quickly, has a fresh and subtle green tea scent and she wouldn’t mind as this jar is 500 ml (perks of duty free shopping)!
Wearing smart shirts is something that I really like and in the autumn, I’m pairing them with chunky and long cardigans because it looks nice, feels cosy and keeps me warm. I think it looks even more chic if I’m having my hair up – a bun or a ponytail are both good choices.
I’m now making myself a cup of tea and I’m ready to welcome this autumn Sunday.
What do you love most about fall?
The last month of the year is near, time is flying! Here are my November favourites.
As the weather gets colder and colder, I tend to use more moisturising products for my face. I’ve mentioned before how much I like the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Deep Cleansing Foaming Cream (review here) but now is the right time to use it and I’ve been really happy with it in the last months. It’s not heavy but gives me this extra nourishing feeling for my face.
Faith in Nature is a natural brand that I’m just discovering and soon I’ll be preparing a post on it. The product that I’ve been using since the moment I got it is their Pomegranate & Rooibos Shower Gel and Foam Bath*. Pomegranate and rooibos are natural antioxidants, the shower gel has a delicate scent and I love it. It’s really nice for my morning shower after a workout, it’s very refreshing.
And speaking of morning showers after a workout, I prefer them quick and awakening. That’s why I’ve been reaching for the Eucerin in-shower body lotion (review here). It’s a great product if you’re looking for something quick and easy to apply, moisturises your skin right under the shower, then you just rinse it off and you’re good to go.
I recently blogged about Essie‘s Sand Tropez (review here) and it has been the nail polish that I’ve been wearing the whole month. It’s a beautiful nude shade and who doesn’t love nude nail polishes?
My favourite autumn lipstick is without a doubt Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Confident (review here). I’ve been wearing it in the last two months and seems it looks better and better with each application. I’m in love with this dusty rose lipstick! Perfect for this time of the year.
What have you been loving in the month of November?
