I Stole a Product from my Boyfriend’s Drawer

IMG_9304post

Yes, I did it and I’m not sorry!

I saw the Ligne St Barth – After Sun Aloe Vera Gel with Mint in my boyfriend’s drawer and I had to check it out. First of all, the smell was so fresh and nice that I had to ask him about this product. He said that he got it during a Caribbean trip because many people recommended it and it can be used as an aftershave or after sun gel as well as an insect bite reliever.

I don’t go sunbathing (yeah, maybe you think I’m crazy) but I wanted to try this out so much that I decided to use it on my legs after the epilator. It was so soothing and refreshing, a little bit cooling, the gel was so light and non-sticky, just perfect. I also tried it once after I burnt my fingers while cooking, it was so calming.

It’s quite pricey but it’s totally worth it. I love this product, I’m not sure if it’s still available online because the company’s policy is to sell it only at the location but if I find it, I will definitely repurchase it.

Have you tried this wonderful gel?

Review: Bio-Oil

IMG_9235post

I guess you’ve heard a lot about Bio-Oil, it’s actually a pretty controversial product. Many people hate it, many people love it.

I’m not a specialist, I’m just a person who decided to try it and I’m sharing what I experienced. What made me want to try it was the botanical ingredients list:

Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (Calendula Oil)
Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (Lavender Oil)
Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary Oil)
Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (Chamomile Oil)

First of all, the price for 200 ml in Norway is around €50 which is quite high, in the UK you can find it for £20-£25 (I got it in London around this price). There are smaller packagings, too but you have to use it twice daily for a minimum of 3 months to see results or at least that’s what the bottle suggests.

Second of all, I haven’t used it on my face. Many people say that it helps removing acne scars but I can’t share any opinion on that.

I use this oil mainly on dehydrated parts of my body and it works great, I don’t see any change in my skin tone, though (it claims to improve uneven skin tone). I also tried it several times on burnt areas since I know that calendula helps healing burnt skin and it was ok although I prefer my good old calendula cream for this. I have some small old scars but I didn’t see any difference after using the oil. Probably it works when the scars are new, I don’t know.

However, it feels quite heavy. You can’t apply it, just get dressed and go out. It needs a lot of time to absorb, it’s quite oily, it’s not appropriate if you’re in a rush.

Bottom line, it’s a great moisturiser, my skin is smoother and more hydrated but I didn’t notice any miracles that some people were telling me to expect. There are tons of nice body moisturisers out there that are not so pricey so I’m not sure if I’m going to be repurchasing this product.

April Favourites

IMG_9159post

It’s the end of the month again so it’s time to share what I was mostly using during April.

Sooner or later I’m always going back to my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. It controls the shine of my combination skin, it’s lightweight, looks natural and in the changing season, it was what I exactly needed.

And although my face needed some mattifying, it also asked for nourishing and hydration. Lately, I’m using rose water as a toner. I don’t remember the brand that I’m showing here because I put it in a travel bottle a long time ago but you can find rose water easily and you can also make it on your own. It cleanses and balances my skin, makes it smooth and it can also soothe irritated skin. The benefits of using rose water are thousands and you can see it for yourself if you try.

I almost never suffer from chapped lips but I guess it’s because I use lip balm nearly 24/7. The one that I was carrying everywhere with me this month was Burt’s Bees Nourishing Mango Butter Lip Balm. It’s 100% natural and it has fruity flavour. I love it, I love how it softens my lips, I love how it smells, it’s tiny so it doesn’t take much space and you even forget that it’s in your pocket.

Nobody talks about feet, is it so shameful? Feet are part of our body and we should take care of them. In fact, we torture them a lot by wearing high heels and walking/training all the time and our feet need pampering too! Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream is a combination of softening the foot skin and making your feet feel relieved after a tough day. It has arnica extract, virgin cashew nut oil, shea butter and myrrh that takes care of your nails. The smell is very, very gentle. Exfoliate your feet and then apply this cream, you won’t regret it.

You can see that I’ve been loving the L’Occitane Rose 4 Reines Body Milk. I love everything about this body milk – the scent of the Grasse, Bulgarian, Moroccan and Turkish roses, the milky texture, the way it softens my skin for a day ahead. It has also grapeseed oil and this product absorbs quickly so you can get dressed immediately after using it.

I usually prefer citrus notes for my fragrances but sometimes in the colder months I go for something heavier. Like Paco Rabanne’s Lady Million. When I say heavier I don’t mean masculine, it’s still feminine but it’s kind of bold. Plus, it stays much better on skin than when you just test it on paper for example.

So, that’s my list with favourites for this month.

Do you like some of these products?

My Favourite Fragrance

IMG_9228post

It was the spring of 2006. I got a fragrance as a gift from my parents and I absolutely and immediately fell in love with it.

It was very unusual and fresh… it was LOVE! It was Incanto Charms by Salvatore Ferragamo!

I would never choose it based on the description which says ”floral-fruity” and ”sweet” which is exactly what I don’t like. I’m into fresh, citrus scents but this ”floral-fruity” is not the typical floral-fruity and the ”sweet” is not that candy and sugary sweet that makes the fragrance strong in a weird way, too girly and unpleasant instead of clean and light.

The top note is Passion Fruit and Honeysuckle which give it a tropical vibe. The middle note is of Jasmin and Ottoman Roses which bring the feminine floral tones of the fragrance. The base note is Amarys Wood together with Musk that in combination leave the feeling of warmth and comfort.

Another great thing is the packaging – the bottle is simply beautiful (maybe I would only prefer a different cap) and the box that it’s in, is quite charming as well.

It stays on me all day and everyone is asking me what’s my perfume. It’s perfect for the sunny spring and summer days.

I’ve tried other fragrances from the Incanto line and I liked them too but Incanto Charms is just the best, it’s so wonderful that I can’t describe how much I love it.

The only downside for me is that as it was launched 8 years ago, it’s almost impossible to find it at the moment and you don’t always know if it’s the original product. Can’t they just sell it forever?

For me, Incanto Charms is the best combination of elegance, freshness, lightness and summer in a bottle! Plus it has a sentimental value for me…
