The Product That Seems to Work for Everybody but Me

I’ve read a lot about the Bliss That’s Incredi-‘Peel’ Glycolic Pads.

Basically, they’re described as single-step, no-rinse peeling pads that are meant to renew your skin without irritation. They’re also packed with soothing witch hazel and licorice extract and hydrating glycerin. They’re coming in a box of 30 individually wrapped pads that you have to use every night after cleansing your skin.

It’s working against fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots and other imperfections to make your skin look and feel healthier and radiant.

You cleanse your face like you normally do, tone, then use the pads and at the end apply your moisturiser. It’s important to know that after using it your skin may get more sensitive, so you should use SPF on the next day. It’s suitable for all skin types.

Now to the reviews that I read. People were so happy after using this product, they were saying that it’s great even for sensitive skin, that it’s such an ‘awesome’ and ‘magical’ product which makes their skin smooth and even that ‘everybody must use these pads’. My surprise was the biggest when I saw comments  from people that tend to get breakouts when they include a new product to their skincare routine which happens to me too. So, they were saying that they didn’t get any breakouts and the product worked fantastic.

As you may guess, I decided to try it out.

The first thing that I noticed when I opened the sachet was that the pad was extremely wet. The smell is the usual for this type of product I think. So, I started applying the ‘magical’ thing on my face and my skin felt burning. It wasn’t stinging, it was burning, my face got red and it hurt a lot. I stopped and after a few minutes everything was back to normal. On the next day I woke up with breakouts, they were not so many,  so I thought it was normal knowing how my skin reacts to new products. And I continued applying the burning product on my face every evening because I don’t give up so easily. The breakouts were getting more and more and at some point I realised that I have never had so many spots at the same time on my face…in my entire life. I had to stop using the pads.
I don’t know why it’s happening to me, considering how positive everybody was. I think there were not even 10 negative comments that I read.

I needed about a week to fully get back to my normal skin condition.

I’m quite stubborn though so the other day I started using them again. But I changed a couple of things. First, I don’t use them every evening, I do it every other evening. And second, I cut the pads in 4 smaller parts each so that there isn’t so much product on my skin. So far, I don’t have the previous problems, it doesn’t burn and I have just a couple of tiny, almost non-visible spots. Will keep you updated!

June Favourites

June is coming to an end so it’s time for the monthly favourites!

I went back to the Herbal Essences Silk ‘n’ Shine Shampoo (review here) to keep my hair clean. A nice shampoo that smells really good.

I can’t say enough good words about the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream and Eye Cream (review here). They helped me so much in May, they were there for me in June too.

I changed my moisturiser in the last month because I decided to try the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat which is a mattifying one as you can tell. It can be used as a day and night moisturiser, and as a makeup base, it’s oil-free. So far I’ve been loving it.

Basically during the whole June I’ve been wearing the same nail polish. It’s the Maybelline Colorama (or Color Show depending on which country you’re getting it from) in shade 254. This is the perfect nude for me, it’s stunning! It’s something between peachy pink, brown and grey, I can’t describe it very well but if there’s only one nail polish that I have to pick and wear for months, it would be this one.

The last favourite is a lip product that I discovered after years of ‘meh’ feeling about lip glosses. I finally decided to give it a try and I don’t regret it. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in shade 06 Rosewood Shimmer has been on my lips and in my handbag  in the last weeks and I will definitely keep using it.

Wish you a nice and sunny July!

Review: Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder

As a person with combination skin, I’m always looking for a good mattifying powder. All the combination/oily skin girls want this but we know how much we hate it when we look too powdery, right?

Well, there is a solution to our problem and it’s called Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder! This product not only mattifies your skin, not only keeps you shine-free for hours but also makes your face look healthy and radiant. Honestly, I didn’t know anything about this powder, didn’t read any reviews before purchasing it, I just saw it one day and decided to buy it.

Everybody is still raving about the Healthy Mix serum and foundation, unfortunately I haven’t tried them but this powder deserves to be mentioned too because it’s just amazing.

The packaging is really cute as you can see, it’s super slim and there’s a full mirror inside so you can also carry the product with you for touch-ups during the day.

It’s a very soft and smooth pressed powder with a light and fresh fruity scent. It’s an Asian fruit therapy to rebalance and restore the skin (Kaki for hydration and Yuzu for anti-shine).

It applies very smooth and gives a good coverage. It’s not cakey at all, looks very natural and beautiful. For me it lasts about 6-7 hours without any touch-ups, I use a base/foundation before the powder and my Angelica Ultra Matte Fluid from L’Occitane before applying the base. I understand that all the steps are significant for the final result but still think that the powder really keeps you shine-free for a long time. Ok, maybe not for 10 hours but it’s definitely more than many of the mattifying powders out there. Plus, my face gets oily pretty quickly so this product really does a great job.

The only downside is that there are just 4 shades to choose from but I think 53 Light Beige is the perfect one for me. Also I’ll have to find how to repurchase it online from somewhere since we don’t have Bourjois products here in Norway.

Overall, I’m very impressed with this powder and it’s probably my favourite product at the moment.

Have you tried Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder and what’s your experience with it?

Weekend Trip: The Photo Post

I live in Norway and we’re not lucky to always have the sun shining, blue sky and more than +10C, so whenever we have a warm weekend, me and my boyfriend are trying to spend it out roadtripping. Here are some of the photos that I’ve taken during our weekend trips that hopefully will inspire you to go somewhere out in nature, breathe fresh air and enjoy life! :-)

The Best Lip Gloss

Ok, I’m late…probably a year late…

I wasn’t very keen on the first ‘season’ of these glosses, later when the new shades were launched, I still didn’t pay much attention cause I simply don’t like lip glosses that much. But some days ago I saw something like an offer ad at the beauty store that I often visit. The lip glosses were placed on a table in front of the store, they were many and they were pretty. I just had to check them out. I remembered Anna‘s posts about the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector shades and started swatching.

The new shades were looking pretty much the same as the original ones but as if more saturated. When I saw the shimmer I wanted to run out of the store because I really dislike shimmery lip products but the scent stopped me. It was the sweetest caramel scent but at the same time the formula was so smooth, soft and non-sticky. At the end I got the shade 06 Rosewood Shimmer.

The packaging is a tube with a soft sponge applicator on top, you just squeeze it gently and you see the product appearing.

As a lip balm addict, I was happy to learn that the formula is enriched with Shea Butter and Wild Mango to soften and repair the lips and also contains Vitamin E and A!

When I applied it, it felt really nice, not like a typical lip gloss but also like a gel and balm. The glitter is not so visible once the product is on the lips, it just makes them look fuller. The gloss adds a hint of colour and shine, softens and nourishes the lips.

I’m happy that I picked 06 Rosewood Shimmer because it’s a sophisticated browny nude that looks elegant on the lips.

I totally changed my mind and admit that I should have tried the Lip Perfectors earlier…better late than never, right? They are pretty, nourishing, non-sticky, delicious and perfect for girls like me that prefer the natural look. You can wear them by themselves or add on top of a lipstick.
