Brand Focus: Mirins Copenhagen

IMG_2517post IMG_2523post IMG_2525post IMG_2527post IMG_2530post
I learned about Mirins Copenhagen through a Scandinavian magazine based in Copenhagen. When I saw the pictures of the charming little shop, I wanted to go inside and just stay there all day and hear about the products. It seems so peaceful and…herbal.

When Jane Pawiroredjo realised she had an allergy to synthetic fragrance, she started trying to find products that she could use and she actually started making them herself. Mirins Copenhagen was launched in 2012 creating face, bath and body products with only natural fragrance and organic ingredients. The products are preservative-, synthetic additive- and artificial fragrance-free. They’re developed based on Herbalism and Aromatherapy in which Jane is certified. Each item is handcrafted to ensure the highest quality. They also have amazing gift boxes which are packaged in 100% recycled materials.

Jane was really kind to send me a great package with her products to try. Unfortunately, the posts were not so kind and despite the well-packed parcel, there was a destroyed bottle and a bit damaged ones as you can see above.

I’ve mentioned most of the products in different posts because I’ve been using them for several months but I really wanted to focus on the brand and share how passionate Jane is in what she does.

Of course, the first thing that you notice is the packaging. I’m a huge fan of glass jars and bottles although they’re not travel friendly. They just look and feel solid and well made. The rest are metal containers which is great, as well since they really preserve the product inside. They can also be taken with you on a daily basis or on a trip. Examples are the Aromatherapy Calming Body Oil*, I have the smaller size but it contains a pretty good amount of product and the Tea Tree & Lavender Hand Balm* which is my saviour, you can’t believe how dry my hands can get in Norway.
I have two Aromatherapy Perfume Rollers* and they are perfect for when you feel a bit congested or stressed or you just need to perk up.
If you’d like to read more about these products, check out my Spring Vibes, April Favourites or my recent Oils, oils, oils… posts.

At Mirins they also make face products and I’m in love with the Facial Clay Mask for Normal Skin* because as I said in the full review here, it’s the perfect combination of purifying and hydrating properties.
Their Facial Serum* was in my March Favourites because it keeps my skin in good condition especially when I travel, it absorbs quickly and the scent is really relaxing.
Last but not least, my all-time favourite skincare product…the queen…rose water. It’s pure rose water but I love the heavy glass spray bottle of Rose Water* by Mirins. The product is perfect for all skin types, it gently cleanses, tones, soothes, refreshes the skin, no doubt, my favourite face toner.

Unfortunately, there are no Norwegian retailers at the moment but it’s possible to purchase Mirins Copenhagen products online at

Urban Decay Launched in Norway!

IMG_2134post IMG_2145post IMG_2149post IMG_2151post IMG_2155post IMG_2161post IMG_2165post IMG_2171post IMG_2498postIMG_2187post

The wait is over! Urban Decay launched in Norway and the brand’s products are now available at the Kicks stores in Oslo City and Steen & Strøm in Oslo and online at
Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to the launch party because I was out of the country but the UD representatives in Norway kindly sent to me several products to try and here I am sharing my thoughts with you.

I got a Moondust Eyeshadow* in the shade Diamond Dog and I’m really sad that a swatch can’t show how pretty and sparkly it is. The shade is really wearable, it’s a deep brown one with white-gold shimmer and at first I was quite scared of this sparkly eyeshadow but there’s something really nice about it. First of all, the texture is very creamy and easy to work with, there’s just a minimal fallout and if you apply a primer, the product will stick to your lids. Even if I wouldn’t wear it on a daily basis, I have to say that you can apply just a thin layer for a daytime appropriate look or build it up to create ”wet”, sexy and sultry evening eye look. The eyeshadow looks sophisticated, blends like a dream and you can use it either dry or wet for more pigmentation.
If you’re not a fan of glittery eyeshadows, I think this one might change your mind – no chunks of glitter falling on your cheeks, no gritty texture, just a beautiful and comfortable to wear product.

I was really curious about the Perversion mascara*, I mean, doesn’t ”Bigger. Blacker. Badder” sound really promising? I like the sleek tube and the creamy formula. As with almost every new mascara, when you open it, it can be quite wet but this one is lightweight, so if you coat your lashes carefully and slowly, it won’t clump. Just don’t rush! The brush is not very small but I like that it’s not too big either, it’s bushy but not too large. I tend to be very messy when I apply mascara but I don’t poke my eyes or end up with mascara all over my face with Perversion.
The applicator is actually a twisted trim brush with many bristles to catch your lashes, volumise and lengthen them.
Another nice thing about this product is that my lashes don’t get crispy, they get a bit of a curl, length and volume but still feel soft and I can apply a new coat easily even hours later.
I learnt that Perversion contains Hairdensyl, a complex blend of proteins and amino acids—including marine glycogen, known to stimulate lash growth. Also, honey extract provides deep nourishment, sea idrolized elastine stimulates the hair follicle, and marine collagen protects. Unfortunately, I can’t report on that point because I’ve been using the mascara for just a couple of weeks and I guess this needs more time to be noticed.
I think it’s a very nice mascara and the dramatic look actually comes from the really black formula. It’s incredibly pigmented and impressive even with one coat.
I do think photos don’t do justice to mascaras and the situation looks much better in real life but I’m still trying to be more helpful with photos and swatches.

We talked eyes, now let’s talk lips!
24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in the shade Naked* is a warm-toned beige-pink with a matte finish, it almost looks like a muted coral. It goes fully opaque on the lips, has a waterproof formula and wears well for hours, it’s really long-lasting.
Urban Decay have many shades to choose from but I think this one can be a base for so many lipstick colours, it’s almost like a primer that evens out the lips. The formula contains Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Cottonseed Oil. I love this lip pencil because it’s creamy, easy to apply without dragging the lips, it lasts a very long time and doesn’t cause dryness. I like pairing it with a nude lipstick or wearing it on its own. It looks pretty with a lip balm on top as well.

I’m really happy that Urban Decay is now easier to find in Norway. I’m curious about so many of their products, like the new Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer for example. Sadly, the shades that I’m looking for are always sold out but hopefully I’ll be able to purchase it soon.

What is your favourite Urban Decay product?

Affordable Natural Care: Faith in Nature

IMG_1157postIMG_1150post  IMG_1158post IMG_1161post

Faith in Nature is a brand with about 40 years of history with the idea to produce friendly products. Friendly to the environment and to the people that use them.

Faith in Nature doesn’t use any synthetic fragrances or colouring, SLS, SLES and parabens. There are no animal ingredients and no ingredients are tested on animals.

LaColle Norway sent me a generous package with products to test out and I was doing this in the past months to be able to come with this post and share with you my favourite picks.

I already reviewed two hair products from the brand. I really like their Organic Coconut Shampoo* and Conditioner* and you can see more here. They’re light but the shampoo cleanses my scalp and hair well while the conditioner gives me shine and makes my hair really soft. They’re a very nice pair together and I’d like to try more from the haircare range.

You may have seen the Pomegranate & Rooibos Shower Gel and Foam Bath* in my November favourites. I used it in the mornings after workout because it was very refreshing, I haven’t tried it as a bath gel, so I can’t report on that point. I liked it as a shower gel because of the delicate scent and the nice lather that it creates and I’ll be  visiting my local bio store soon because I’m curious to try some of the other shower gel scents.

The Chamomile & Aloe Vera Roll-on Deodorant* has a very light scent and dries pretty quickly. It’s best if you use it after taking a shower. It’s suitable for both men and women. I was scared that I can get a sticky feel throughout the day as it happens with many roll-on deodorants but so far, I haven’t noticed something like that. You have to know that you won’t feel the scent at all once you apply the product, so if you’re expecting perfume-like smell during the whole day, it won’t happen. For me, this is a very nice natural deodorant and it’s also great that you can use a refill – saves you money and it’s better for the environment.

Although I don’t wear that much make up on a daily basis, I always double cleanse my face in the evening. I actually never use face wipes but I tried the 3-in-1 Facial Wipes* and I was surprised. They are gentle, they remove make up effectively (especially mascara) and they actually feel moisturising on the skin. I definitely won’t switch to face wipes make up removing but I think I might be getting these if I travel in case I’m in a situation in which I can’t properly do my full routine or just use them as the first step of my evening rituals.

These are my favourite picks from Faith in Nature and if you’re looking for a natural and cruelty free care that is also affordable, I’d recommend checking these products out.

Brand Focus: L’Occitane en Provence

I learned about L’Occitane en Provence some years ago thanks to my boyfriend. He knows that I’m a lip balm addict so he got me a present – a whole bunch of lip balms, all from L’Occitane. They were amazing! (I still keep some of the tubes as you can see below…sweet memories). Through the years I got to know more of their products and step by step, L’Occitane turned into one of my favourite brands. My blog isn’t very popular so as you can guess I’m not paid to write this post, I just decided to share with you what I like most from the brand and maybe you can tell me what I’ve missed. So, here are my favourite picks with no particular order.

1. Lip balms.

Have to start with them because they’re the first thing that made me fall in love with the brand. The white tube is their most popular Moisturizing Certified Organic Shea Lip Balm and also my all-time favourite lip balm. If you suffer from extremely dry and chapped lips, you’ve tried everything and it didn’t work, look this way. The colourful ones are from a limited edition and they were Desert Rose Lip Balm, Hibiscus Flower Lip Balm and Cocoa Flower Lip Balm. All of them are having 10% shea butter and are amazing.

2. Shower oil.

Is there anybody that hasn’t heard of the Almond Shower Oil? It won’t be exaggerating if I say that it’s the best shower oil in the world because it really is. Smells fantastic, leaves your skin smooth and soft and you don’t even need a moisturiser after going out of the shower.

3. Body and hair care.

Here I’m showing a small part of my travel essentials – the Aromachologie Repairing Conditioner and the Ultra Rich Body Lotion. I keep them in travel sizes because when I’m on the way my hair and skin are more stressed than ever and these products are giving me the nourishing I need. And of course the lovely Rose 4 Reines Body Milk! Wonderful texture and great for moisturising. I’m using it after my evening shower and on the next morning, I’m waking up to the beautiful rose scent which lasts forever.

I’m also including the soaps although I’m using them only on my hands but I wanted to mention them because some are exfoliating but they exfoliate your skin very gently and they’re hydrating your body as well. Also, they’re very pretty and I’ve noticed that people like them as a gift.

4. Hand creams. IMG_9280post I use both of the hand creams on the picture together because the one on the right is the Immortelle Brightening Hand Care SPF20 which gives you the protection but for bigger hydration I apply the Shea Butter Subtle Violet Hand Cream (it was a limited edition) before the brightening one. Of course you can use them separately. Another hand cream that I love but isn’t on the picture is the Cherry Blossom Hand Cream, wonderful…just wonderful!

5. The Angelica range

There are only two products from the range on the picture but the whole Angelica series is fantastic if you have oily/combination skin. The Ultra Matte Fluid is going to keep you shine-free all day long when you apply it before your primer or use it as a primer. There isn’t anything else that has helped me so much. The eye roll-on is giving you a refreshing feeling, you can use it night and or/day, I store mine in the fridge and apply it in the mornings.
