As a person with combination skin that can get a bit spotty sometimes, I really like the Effaclar series from La Roche-Posay. For years, my favourite product from the range has been Effaclar Duo [+], I know it works different on different people but it has always helped me heal my skin. I’ve mentioned it multiple times in my skincare posts but I’ve never done a full review on it.
When the new La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Unifiant was released, I thought I’d give it a try. It’s basically the same product as Duo [+] but tinted which made me a bit nervous at the beginning. Usually, this type of skincare products are way too dark or pink on me but this one was a surprise. Unfortunately, it comes in only two shades but I have the Light one and I find it to be really good for my skin tone.
The product provides a sheer coverage but it evens out the complexion really nicely. I often use it on its own but sometimes I apply it as a primer and then continue with my foundation and concealer. Looks good both ways and keeps my skin matte for a while, not for a whole day, of course but a couple of hours is more than any other mattifying product does on me anyway. Then it appears quite radiant but not too dewy, it just makes the skin look healthy and smooth.
It’s impressive how it feels moisturising rather than drying on the skin while exfoliating it at the same time, thanks to the Salicylic Acid in the formula.
Some other ingredients are:
Niacinamide which is an anti-inflammatory active ingredient that offers an intense soothing effect;
Piroctone Olamine combats bacterial infections, which is ideal for those with acne-prone skin;
LHA’s speed up the rate skin cells renew;
Linoleic Acid helps to regulate excess sebum;
Procerad is a multi-tasker, diffusing inflammation, whilst preventing and treating post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Basically, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Unifiant is a BB Cream and a spot treatment in one. It applies smoothly, feels soothing and lightweight on the skin. I have to say, it covers up redness pretty well which was a surprise for me. I started using it about a month ago and I can say my skin looks more healthy, the imperfections are much less (I’ve been dealing with skin issues because of the season changes for a few weeks now) and this is now a must-have product for me.
Have you tried the new La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Unifiant and what do you think about it?
