Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Refreshing Jelly with Extract of Berry

Last time when I was in London, I picked up two items from the then new Boots range, Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Refreshing Jelly with Extract of Berry. The Tea Tree & Witch Hazel one is already famous for working great on blemish-prone and oily skin, so as a person with combination skin, I was curious how these new products would perform. I got the face wash and the moisturiser, I believe there’s also a face scrub in the series.

I have to say, there is a hit and a miss for me and I’m pretty sad about that because what I was most excited about was the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Refreshing Jelly Moisturiser. Unfortunately, it disappointed me. First of all, it claims to keep you shine-free for up to 12 hours and the truth is, it doesn’t make my skin look matte, at all. I like the hygienic press pump that it comes with because it doesn’t let air inside but it dispenses too much and the scent of the moisturiser is pretty unpleasant once it’s applied on the skin. Also, it contains silicone which makes the skin feel smoother but I’m not the biggest fan of silicone in my moisturisers. There are parabens, too. I don’t think it hydrates my skin very well, either but what disappointed me the most was the fact that I got so many blackheads on my face that I couldn’t believe my eyes. And they were even on areas where they normally never appear and I’m still fighting with some of them. Sadly, this moisturiser is something that I regret purchasing and it just didn’t work out well on me.

On the other hand, I’m pretty pleased with the  Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Refreshing Jelly Facial Wash. It’s my morning cleanser, I wouldn’t use it as an evening one and I wouldn’t even think about removing make-up with it. It feels quite refreshing, it’s not stripping or drying and smells much better than the moisturiser. I like that it doesn’t foam up too much and leaves my skin purified but not squeaky clean. It’s affordable but also, a little goes a long way and I feel like it’s going to last me for more than half a year.

I’m really curious to know if any of you tried these products and what your experience is because I didn’t get along with the moisturiser but I enjoy using the face wash.
