This must be the year of the facial mists for me! I’ve always loved toners, floral waters and face mists but in the past few months, I’ve had the chance to try many new ones and to fall in love again with old favourites. Actually, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to gather around my current loves and share them with you.
But now let’s mention this new Korean trend and the pollution-proof beauty products. Nowadays, we live in concrete jungles and most of us lead a pretty stressful life. Of course, there are consequences on our skin, too. Anti-ageing and anti-pollution products are now the main focus in Asia but we can see the rise of the trend outside of it, as well.
I was really curious about the new REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist* because I love the brand’s Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Face Mask and I adore face mists.
This is a really fine mist that aims to instantly shield and protect the skin from the ageing effects of harmful free radicals and environmental pollution. It also helps to strengthen the skin’s natural defences against oxidative stress, boosting the skin’s own ability to care for itself. The desired outcome is for the skin to be naturally protected and by using the product regularly, to help reduce the premature ageing effect of environmental pollution.
The more I use the product, the better results I see, considering all the factors that can damage our skin. UV light and environmental pollutants like cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes and heavy metals, for example, generate free radicals on the surface of the skin. Free radicals induce oxidative damage that puts skin cells in a state of ”oxidative stress”, the skin loses its radiance and the complexion starts looking a bit grey.
I apply the REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist* with my eyes closed, to my entire face and neck. It has natural fragrance that smells really nice and makes me feel relaxed. The mist can be used as a toner, over moisturiser or make-up and reapplied throughout the day. I love using it as a make-up setting spray because it just makes everything look better, it feels very hydrating but doesn’t make my skin more oily or shiny. The product is suitable for all skin types and comes in a lightweight bottle.
The brand says that the formula provides four lines of defence:
First line of defence – Biosaccharide Gum derived from sugar and yeast, forms a non-sticky invisible protective barrier that acts like a ‘second skin’, to shield skin from the major pollutants in the environment and free radical formation, reducing their damaging effect;
Second line of defence – Zinc and Manganese Amino Acids track down free radicals and protect skin from oxidative stress;
Third line of defence – Quercetin boosts the antioxidant capacity of the cell, stimulating skin repair;
Fourth line of defence– Alfa-glucan helps to remove altered cell components and increases cell longevity.
The product is formulated without parabens, phthalates and sulfates, it’s also free from mineral oil, synthetic dyes and fragrances. It’s cruelty-free.
I love how my skin feels hydrated and soft with this mist. I’m very happy that it doesn’t make my combination skin more oily but it’s also suitable for dry skin like my mum’s, for example, she really enjoys a few spritzes of it, as well.
The REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist* is available in Norway for the price of 299 kr. It’s now one of my summer staples and it’s really nice that fits into my handbag.
