Review: Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

DSC_0939post DSC_0947postAlthough my skin is combination, the area around my eyes often feels pretty dry and dehydrated and an eye cream is an essential for me. I like my eye creams to be nourishing but lightweight, non-sticky and to provide a good base for concealer. I have genetic dark circles and I know that there is nothing that can fix them. I drink a lot of water, I try to stay healthy but honestly, there isn’t much you can do when your dark circles aren’t just occasional. So, my main concern is simply for my eye area to be hydrated.

I’ve been testing the new Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream* for a month because I always do it with skincare products before I share my opinion but surprisingly for me, I noticed a difference already in the second week of using it. I just looked a bit more awake and fresh and the delicate eye area was well moisturised and less grey-looking.

First of all, it’s really hard to miss the fresh-looking orange tube when you’re browsing the skincare aisles. I instantly think of fresh orange juice but for your eyes.

As you can see, the product comes with a spherical massaging applicator to de-puff the eyes. I don’t have a problem with puffy eyes but I can say that it feels like a nice and gentle massage and it is a bit cooling. When you pull the applicator up, it’s really easy to dispense a pea-size amount of the product with it. Then it’s suggested to pop the applicator to the closed position and swipe the product in circular motion around the eye area. Just pat in the excess with fingertips, it feels really soothing and refreshing.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream* is formulated to brighten, refresh and hydrate tired-looking eyes. It has a blend of seven peptides to help maintain collagen, plump the skin, diminish fatigue and improve skin elasticity and firmness. It also has a mix of energising and soothing ingredients such as Caffeine, Algae Extract, Molasses Extract, Magnolia Officinalis Bark Extract to calm the skin and help reducing puffiness.

The cream is pretty thick but at the same time feels really light and absorbs quickly. I noticed that my concealer performs very good when I use this eye cream underneath, it doesn’t crease or look dry and doesn’t move throughout the day. For me, it’s always a plus when eye creams don’t contain fragrance and Clinique are famous for their fragrance-free products, so even people with sensitive eyes can use Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream*.

The gentle skin around my eyes feels really hydrated thanks to this product. My dark circles are still there and I still need my correctors and concealers but the whole eye area definitely looks more fresh and bright now. I can say Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream* is a great addition to my skincare rituals.

Have you tried this new eye cream?
