AS.AP is a small batch distillery and stands for Amanda Saurin Apothecary. Amanda Saurin is the founder, plant grower and gatherer, distiller and maker at AS.AP. They’re based at Ashurst Organic Farm in Sussex. I love how they say ”We have chosen to be small in scale but huge in benefits.”
They use only plants that are fresh and in season. Nothing is automated, every part of the process is hand made. Every harvest is recorded and available on their website, so that everybody can go and see. It’s worthy to see their story as well, it’s fascinating. Every product is made from the finest of ingredients, there is nothing artificial, nothing is tested on animals and all products are EU Certified by an Independent Chemist.
It’s not the first time that I’m featuring an organic and natural product on my blog because although I’m not using only products with organic ingredients, I love face and body care made of plants. I even made my boyfriend fall in love with such products and when he’s having a skin burn or insect bite, he always asks where our calendula cream was, for example. I love herbal tea, I love spritzing our bed sheets with a calming oil blend. Maybe it’s because my mom loves her garden and I got it from her, maybe it’s because I come from the land of roses, maybe it’s both, I just love it.
I never thought I’d have a cleansing oil included in my skincare routine. I haven’t tried many because the ones that I did try were too heavy or greasy on my combination skin, or if they didn’t make me more oily, they didn’t remove any make-up. In fact, I gave up searching for the right cleansing oil because I always double cleanse anyway. Until the day I got the chance to try AS.AP Amanda Saurin Apothecary Cleansing Oil* and I’m going to be forever grateful for that.
I love the simple yet stylish packaging which comes with a pipette and you only need just a few drops to cleanse the whole face.
When you open the bottle, you’re welcomed by the most exquisite rose scent and a gorgeous consistency, it’s oil but it’s not greasy, it’s simply gorgeous. The oil contains Jojoba Oil, Castor Oil, Borage Oil, Calendula Oil, Vitamin E and essential oils such as Rose, Bergamot, Clary Sage and Benzoin. You can see even by the ingredients that the cleansing oil is going to be very soothing and it’s also antiseptic.
I use micellar water to remove most of the make-up in the evening and then comes the oil time which is so relaxing and uplifting. For the purposes of this post, of course, I used only the cleansing oil to remove my make-up and it did a great job. I tried to have on more than what I usually wear and it removed everything – eyeliner, mascara, absolutely everything and it didn’t irritate my eyes.
I was lucky to get their gorgeous Cleansing Cloth #1* as well. It’s 100% cotton and handmade. It’s really soft but at the same time gently exfoliates the skin. After taking off the cleansing oil with the cloth, there is no oily residue left. Just a glowy and plump skin.
There’s only one thing I’m sad about and it’s the idea of not having the possibility to get AS.AP products here in Norway. So, if you have the chance to try some of them, do not hesitate, you and your skin would be very happy.
This beautiful oil turns my evening cleanse into a relaxing ritual while leaving my skin clean, soft and radiant. Easily my favourite part of my skincare routine in the past month…and the months ahead.
