January Favourites

I feel like 2015 started just yesterday and here I am writing my January favourites post, time flies!

I didn’t use so many different products this month, I tried to stick to my winter essentials and stay hydrated – inside and out, but there are several items that I got in December and January was definitely their month.

Such product is Mask of Magnaminty by Lush (review here). I got it before the Christmas holidays and since then it has been pretty much the only mask that I’ve been using. There is a new hero in town though but I will tell you more about it next month. Mask of Magnaminty is fresh, gets rid of all the impurities, feels comfortable – you can eat and talk when you have it on and leaves your skin incredibly soft. It may not make my pores smaller but the rest is enough for me to like it.

There isn’t a season when I don’t use lip balm but in the winter this skincare product is essential. Lately, I’ve been loving the Eco Lips Berry Lip Balm SPF15* which is 100% organic, smells very nice, goes clear and a bit glossy on the lips, feels light but it’s quite moisturising. It’s super affordable, it’s Fair Trade certified, mine came with a clip which means that you can attach it to your purse, keychains, everything and not lose it. It’s gluten free and the tubes are made of recycled material. Plus, there are so many flavour options!

Being on the skincare topic, I can’t miss to mention how much my hands suffer in the winter. I wash them hundreds of times a day, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen because I love cooking and the result is dry and flaky hands, plus the pain is horrible! I have quite a few favourite hand products but there was one in January that made the big difference and it was Burt’s Bees Hand Salve. It’s quite hard to find it in the city I’m in, so I’m very happy I won this from Burt’s Bees Norway competition but I managed to send a tin to my family and they love it as well. It smells like an ointment, so I guess not all would like it but for me this is in no way a problem. It looks hard but it actually melts into an oil, I featured it in my 2014 favourites and there is a reason for that. Highly recommend! (I’m not being paid to talk about Burt’s Bees all the time, I just love their products so much!)

There are a couple of make-up products that I used almost every day in January. I don’t actually wear blushers because my cheeks have some natural redness but when I saw the Kicks Blusher in English Rose, I decided to take it and I’m happy I did it. It’s great for all year round but especially for the winter because it has a hint of purple, it’s not bright or too pink, it just looks really pretty and as if you haven’t used a make-up product to get the pop of colour on your face.

I avoid talking about eyebrows because I struggle with mine quite a lot, I still haven’t found the perfect way to make them look pretty but there is one product that I’ve been using for several months now and I really like it. It’s the Clarins Eyebrow Pencil and mine is in the shade 01 Dark Brown. The shade is perfect for me and it’s quite ashy, so there is no weird orange tone going through the hairs. The pencil has a brush on one end and the colour on the other. The texture is not too dry but not too creamy either. The eyebrow pencil requires sharpening but lasts pretty long time and you don’t need to do it every week. Stays put all day and I’m really happy with it at the moment.
