Happy New Year! Hope it’s a really good and successful one for everybody!
Have you been partying in the last days? The second part of December is pretty tough for me – birthday, Christmas, New Year. I’m not a party animal but sometimes celebrating can cause quite a struggle on the next day. You don’t feel like getting out of bed or talking to people but believe me, it’s better if you stay up and find your energy back. I like to start such days with a light cardio because you need that oxygen in your muscles. Nothing hard here, I try to make at least a 2 km run but if you feel like doing less or more, it’s fine, your body will show you what’s good for you. What is important is the activity. Then a quick and refreshing shower will make you feel even better.
Your face and body are dehydrated, so it’s very important to cleanse and hydrate. For your skin, start with cleansing your face and applying a face mask. I used The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask because I have combination skin but if yours is more on the dry side you can apply Origins Drink Up Intensive as a day cream or just leave it on for about 10 minutes and wash it off. You will see how the dull-looking skin is much brighter and more fresh. After the face mask stage, I apply a moisturiser. Even the smell of the Origins GinZing energy-boosting moisturiser is a huge pick-me-up, the citrus-y scent makes you feel more awake and fresh, just don’t forget to moisturise your face. In such days I usually apply lip balm (EOS Honeysuckle Honeydew for example) and stay home. If you are going out, for me, personally, less is more – a bit of CC cream/foundation, a bit more of concealer like Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer and mascara (a must!), a nude lip pencil like Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in 630 Nude Perfection because it gives your lips life and makes them a little bit more juicy and you’re good to go.
Now to your body. And believe me, these tips will help your body and skin as well. Every day I start with having a cup of warm lemon water and after a party night, this step is essential. But don’t use bottled lemon juice, only fresh lemons. Lemon gives you Vitamin C that clears skin, energises you and boosts your immune system. It’s very important to drink a lot of water and herbal tea. I prefer breakfast like toast with mixed tahini and honey spread and a sliced banana on top. It’s light but you don’t feel hungry after it. For the rest of the day light is the key word again. Maybe a vegetable soup later, also fresh fruits (but not after dinner) and vegetables, yogurt, fish (but not fried), just food that will bring back the energy and will make you feel so much better that you will be ready for another party.
Hope this post is helpful and you will feel fresh like a cucumber after all the partying!
